Unwind (Complete)

[PERCY JACKSON]

Meetings and tense conversations were all good and well, but what Percy really needed was time to be surfing. Surfing is always a good way to clear the head, reconnect to self. Not that Percy believed in all that mumbo jumbo stuff, but it made a great excuse to surf. Seriously, surfing could possibly be the best sport out there, followed closely by skateboarding. He took his shirt off and picked up his board, running out into the waves. 

He jumped on his board, paddling out into the surf waiting for a wave. He closed his eyes, laying back on his board, his eyes closed to the sun. He could feel when a wave was coming, he didn't need to watch for it. he thought of the last time he had surfed. It had been on the other side of the country, with Annabeth. She was actually a fairly good surfer. He just had to pull her away from her books long enough to get her to focus on it. The wave started to raise him. In one fluid motion he jumped up onto his feet and joined the wave in it's quest for the shore. He didn't use his powers, that was cheating. He just used his instincts and the hours of practice he had put into it. Only a few short minutes later he ran up on the beach, holding his board under his arm. He shook his wet hair and propped his board up in the sand, grinning wildly.

A girl sat at a distance from the water quietly. She had come just a few seconds after Percy had got in the water. She blinked watching only a tiny bit of fascination. Though she got up and started to get to her feet slowly. She wore a black pair of shorts and a violet tank top. She watched as Percy came back to the shore and watched as he started grinning. She blinked and was hesitant for a moment but after a long silence the dark haired girl walked over to him."hi... your are a really good surfers" she said

Percy turned, not having noticed the girl before. 
"Oh, hey! Thanks. I love surfing. Have you ever done it before?" He responded to her, smiling as he ran his fingers through his hair. He looked at her dark clothes and her long sleeves. 
"Aren't you warm?" He asked, it was about 90 degrees. He looked back out to the ocean, thinking about going back out there. He loved the waves, loved the sun on his back, loved being here. He also loved being with Annabeth. Too bad she was having some reminiscing moments.

Mairin got so excited training was done for the day and she was headed to the beach plus she ahd heard that Percy and Annabeth were in town and if she knew Percy he would be at the beach. She came round the bend and there he was she ran up to him and gave him a giant hug from behind "Percy!" she came out from behind him laughing and smiling. She saw that he was talking to someone immediately embarrassed she let go and stood next to him "so...so....sorry I didn't realize you were with some one....." Her shyness returning immediately. "I didn't mean to interrupt." She stuck her hands in her pocket looked down.

Keira stopped once she was near and looked at him. She wore her Jacket yes with her violet tank top on underneath. She always seem to wear it. Though she wore a dark shorts. She blinked as she heard what he said. She was quiet for a long moment. She then finally said"well....i......I ummm have never surfed before....to be honest I have never been in the water before...."Keira admitted hesitantly. To tell the truth what she said was true,she had never been in the actual water unless to take a bathe. She had always moved from home to home so much she never had the chance. The dark haired girl then started to mess with the sleeve of her black leather jacket quietly for a moment. She then blinked as she heard him say she looked warm."well yeah I suppose....but I mean I don't wear it to keep warm. Though I do know it's like maybe 90 degrees out today.."Keira said. As she thought about it she did realize she was getting hot so for a moment she continued to mess with the sleeves of her jacket. Though after a moment she started to take her jacket off. When she did she then tied it around her waist as to not lose her jacket. She didn't know why exactly but she felt she could trust him though it made her a bit scared too. Now she only stood in her purple tank top ,black shorts, and her black jacket tied around her waist, the horrible scar stretching from her arm to the middle left of her back showing but for once she didn't feel afraid to show it. Which was odd to her. She then blinked realizing she didn't introduce herself and said"oh...and I'm keira by the way.."she introduced.

Percy ignored the scar on Keira's arm. He didn't need to know about scars, and he had just met this girl. It was knarly though, really cool. He grinned and held out his hand. 
"Nice to meet you Keira, I'm Percy." He gave her, what he hoped was, a warm grin. 
He lurched forward as he felt arms thrown around him, his sister crashing into him behind. His grin grew wider, spreading across his face.
"Mairin!" he exclaimed. He turned his head to look at her as she stood beside him. He watched her smiled fall from her face and her posture grow small as she noticed Keira. He pursed his lips, he needed to find a way to get this girl out of her shell. But that was a matter for a different day. Or maybe... That guy James, he looked at Mairin the way Percy used to look at Annabeth. That could work. But once again, a solution for a different time.
"Hey, Mairin, this is Keira she's... uh. Keira I'm sorry, I didn't ask. Who is your godly parent?"

Keira blinked thankful he didn't say anything about it. Though when she noticed another girl she grew a bit quiet. As she looked between the two for a moment. She then said somewhat quietly it's nice to meet you Percy " She said giving a very small smile. The daughter of hades then fell quiet as she heard Percy say the girl's name. She blinked but didn't say anything. She didn't really know barely anyone at camp. Though after a moment she heard Percy ask who her godly parent was. She was quiet for a long moment before she started to put her jacket back on after untying it from around her waist even if she did get hot wearing it or not. "Well...um...my godly parent is Hades...."Keira said quietly looking at the two.

"Hades." she said. 
Percy nodded. The girl said it like she thought he would shun her for something she couldn't control. 
"Have you met Nico yet? How about Hazel, man she is awesome. And Nico... he could teach you a few things about how to be awesome and creepy at the same time, he has it down."
He put his arm around Mairin's shoulders in a brotherly way. 
"Oh yeah, and this is my sister. She is pretty amazing, if you want a great friend, this is the girl you are looking for." He grinned at both of them. 
Waves continued to crash against the shore, and Percy glanced at them and his board. Oh well, spending time with his sister and this girl was worth missing the waves.

Keira looked at him quietly. She didn't think much that he would shun her for who her godly parent was she was just somewhat shying away. Though she listened as he spoke quietly. She listened as he mentioned two names,Nico and Hazel. She blinked and shook her head just slightly " I um...no I haven't met them yet...."Keira said but she smiled a little as she listened to Percy talk about Nico for a moment. She then blinked when he somewhat introduced his sister who was the girl beside him. Keira blinked thinking he was probably trying to get them to be friends. Though Keira looked a bit hesitant but she nodded quietly in response"ok"she said.

The girl talking to Percy was beautiful if not shy like Mairin. Hades she hadn't a daughter of hades before she had met Nico but only briefly with Percy. "My name is Mairin its nice to meet you!" Mairin knew of lots of people at camp but she didn't know most of them very well.  She hoped maybe could become friends. "Have you been at camp long?" Mairin tried to make a little conversation.


She looked around and was so happy to just be on the beach with Percy he hadn't been over in a while and was just glad she was able to see him and meet someone knew. She always felt better around people with Percy there.

Percy grinned at the two girls. Keira was a little shy, but then so was Mairin and he got along with her just fine. She also seemed like she might not like all the questions. Which was cool with Percy, sometimes he didn't like questions either. 
"I've been here for 6 years... unless we are not counting the one I was at the Roman camp. If we aren't then it is only five years." He smirked at Mairin as he answered the question that was not directed at him. Just a way to lighten the mood, pull Mairin out of he shell a bit and move the conversation along.

"It's nice to meet you Mairin.."Keira said quietly looking at the her quietly. She was quiet for a moment when she had said well asked how long she had been at camp. She stayed quiet for a long time not answering for a moment and looking to Percy as he spoke. She blinked hearing as Percy spoke and blinked"so you've been here for 5 years?"She asked blinking quietly. She then tried to think of how long she had been at camp. She knew she had been here but was uncouncious for a month and then it's only been maybe 2 weeks since it. She then blinked and said"well...sort of 2 weeks and a month..."She said.

Mairin realized she was the girl who had been in the infirmary for a month. "You're the girl they found and was in the infirmaryfor a month right? I'm glad to see you are feeling better, we were worried you wouldn't wake-up." Mairin looked at Percy then at the the lake realizing how much he wanted to get back into the water and realizing she did too. "Would you like to try surfing with us or just come in the water it would be really fun and I promise I won't let Percy drown you?"  Mairin said smiling as she looked at Percy and Keira.

"Yeah I am the girl that was in the infirmary."She said looking at Mairin. She was quiet for a moment noticing that Percy probably wanted to get back in the water. She glanced to the water then said."I'm at least somewhat glad I now know someone was worried... I ended up there from I think a monster that was supposedly disquise as my last foster mother" the daughter of Hades said. She then listened as Mairin asked if she would like to surf with them or just get in the water. She looked at the water a little unsure."I um...don't know..."She said looking to the water. " I 've never actually surfed before ...so...er I don't know how to......if mean I would like to I guess learn how but I don't know what would happen if I got in the water " She said a bit quietly.

Percy looked at Mairin in mock distress. 
"I? Drown someone. Mairin, I would never even think about." He put his hand to his chest. Then turned back to Keira. She spoke of how she got into her coma. Percy decided to focus on the positive. But tucked that information away for a later time. 
"Keira, don't worry, surfing is difficult, but not as hard as some things. I can get us an extra board and you can just come out with us. It will be totally fine. I could even help you out a little bit. I do have some power over the water."
