Reyna had spent her evening meeting with some of the veterans of New Rome. Her duties as Praetor seemed to never end, between paperwork, meetings and training... but busy was good. Busy kept her from having to think about the past. She kept her mind on what was important now- which was paperwork, meetings and training.
The street lights were turning on as the beginnings of dusk started to fall over New Rome. Reyna stopped by her favorite stand to pick up her signature hot chocolate. It wasn't a cold night, but the hot coco was her comfort drink. She paid for her drink before proceeding to wander towards the center square of New Rome. Her praetor duties were complete for the day, and as much as she tried to stay busy even she had to take breaks from her constant regime of training. As she looked out across the courtyard she saw him. Surprise rushed through her, she hadn't exactly been avoiding Jason- but she had been finding reasons to stay behind while Frank handled the co-camp activities at Camp Half-Blood and she had scheduled a trip to visit Hylla when Camp Half-Blood came for War Games. But she had convinced herself that missing the co-op activities had been for the good of the legion- she'd had more important things to do. For all her excuses though, it didn't change the fact that Jason Grace was in the main square of New Rome.

To say that Jason was nervous would be a serious understatement. He hadn't visited New Rome in a long time, and Camp Jupiter and even longer. He had seen Percy and Annabeth and come to see their apartment about two months ago, but he wasn't brave enough to go to Camp Jupiter at the time. He tried to convince himself that it was because he didn't feel like he should intrude on Franks space as a new praetor, but he knew better than that. He felt embarrassed, and like he didn't belong there anymore. Camp Half-Blood have been is home now for so long... Jupiter seemed like a distant memory. He missed it so much though, he missed his friends. But, after everything, he had decided to stay at Camp Half-Blood. Originally he had stayed for Piper, but as time went on, after they broke up, he just felt like that's where he needed to be. Currently he was at Percy's apartment again, and he had been trying to convince Jason all day to just go to Camp Jupiter and see Frank and Reyna at the very least. It didn't take a lot of convincing, because Jason has decided already that he was going to finally do it. He left their place, taking his time walking through New Rome and enjoying the sights. But he didn't make it very far. He saw Reyna up ahead, and stopped in his tracks. She had something to drink in her hand, clearly off duty. He smiled a little, remembering the good times they had spent walking through New Rome together when they weren't working. He finally got his feet to work, and started to move toward her, lifting a hand to wave in a greeting. "Reyna, hey, hi," he sputtered out as he came closer. Reyna Ramirez-Arellano

Surprise mixed with a sudden case of nerves was the best way to describe how Reyna felt- a feeling she was unaccustomed to, even before battles she rarely felt this nervous. She hadn't expected to see Jason, especially in New Rome of all places. They hadn't spoken in months- Reyna hadn't been sure how to reach out- or if she should reach out. After Jason had returned to Camp Jupiter with Piper and then the attack on New Rome, and the quest immediately after they hadn't had a chance to talk much. As time went on it had just felt awkward. Of course, she had heard that he and Piper had broken up. Somehow that just made things more difficult for her to reach out. Jason had after all chosen Camp Half-Blood. Secretly Reyna had felt that Geia hadn't stolen Jason, but instead had rescued him. His choices had ceritnaly made is appear as if he was trying to escape Rome. Forget about his former responsibilities to the Legion, forget about her.
But now, here he was. Back in New Rome. She was aware he had visited New Rome several months ago to see Percy and Annabeth's new apartment. And, while she hadn't made an effort at the time to see Jason, she had secretly hoped he would visit the camp. She hadn't felt it was her place to bridge the silence between them.
"I wasn't aware you had plans to visit," Reyna responded as Jason approached her. "It's," she paused for a fraction of second, her expression difficult to read. "Good to see you," she settled on, her tone formal.
