There was always something nice about the crafts building. Arista loved working on new hobbies and projects and was always excited to try new things. Over the years she'd done things with most materials available, always keen to try her hands at something new. She hadn't tried woodcarving but she'd worked with glass. She'd tried out pottery for a day, she had experimented with some minor silversmithing for jewelry, painted a lot and generally just kept herself out of her cabin. There was something about the Hades cabin that Arista simply found utterly depressing. If it wasn't the dark and gloomy appearance with the skulls it was the part where it was just a sulking mess where people always tended to look at you like you planned to reap their souls first chance. While a natural brunette, Rissa had died her hair platinum blonde after her claiming and had refused to stop wearing her highly colourful clothes. Pastels and bright colours and mostly avoiding black. It was simply too predictable. She needed to be more than what her father made her. She wanted to be more than a daughter of death and darkness. So her projects were always designed around life and colour and things that brought people joy to see. Arista was annoyed on this particular day though, as her project didn't feel like working with her. She grumbled slightly as she noticed another person entering the crafts building. She'd been early, skipping breakfast to get some moment of peace and quiet and had not expected anybody around. Still, everybody was free to come and go as they wanted. She looked at the other girl and smiled ever so slightly. "Morning." She said as she subtly crushed her own little project in irritation. More clay projects later. She looked at the other girl a little more than, firguring she was from one of the cabins that was shunned even more than she was. She wasn't too well into knowing everybody, especially not due to her own grumpy moods. She walked over to the other girl. "I'm Arista by the way. I don't think we've met." She offered her hand to the other girl to shake it. "Nice to meet you." MAGNOLIA WITHERS

Arts and crafts was about one of the only things Magnolia could "safely" do. Mostly because the materials were immune to her power. Sure, it wasn't on all the time, but she lost control of her emotions easily and when that happened she lost control of her power. It was like an on-off switch. Bad emotions meant on, stable meant off. The unfortunate thing was Magnolia was rarely in a good mood, so more often then not it was "on". Hence, arts and crafts. They were safe. Considering her current mood, eating was out of the question. So, she skipped breakfast and instead headed to the arts building. She entered the building, ignoring the fact that she wasn't alone, because who really cared? Heading over to the supplied, she gathered up some pencils and paper, sat down to start sketching.... and stopped. The other occupant of the building had spoken. Magnolia took a moment, hoping it was to someone else, but it wasn't. They were still the only ones in the room. She glanced up, not bothering to brush her hair out of her face, stared for a moment, before glancing back down and starting to sketch. It was only a morning greeting. She could ignore that. Greetings didn't mean much. But, it didn't stay at just a morning greeting. The other girl moved, and Magnolia's gaze shot back up, still half covered by her hair. Her stare was quite intense, as she stared at the girl who approached, hand outstretched and introducing herself. "No, we haven't," Magnolia answered curtly. That wasn't to say Magnolia didn't know who this girl was. The big three and their kids were hard to ignore. They were a big deal. "... Magnolia." IT was a poor introduction, but at least she'd given her name. She completed ignored the out stretched hand though.

The girl wasn't a ray of sunshine. For some peculiar reason Arista found that to be slightly comforting at the moment, although she wasn't fully certain how to handle her attitude. It wasn't that she was downright hostile or particularly rude. She just wasn't very open and welcoming. Arista figured that this was what talking to her dad would probably be like if he bothered to have a conversation with her in person. She didn't really know him all that well and most stories that involved him painted him either as the villain or somebody that cared. His cabin didn't suggest too many positive things about him so Arista was reluctant to accept the idea that he would be kind and welcoming if ever they were to meet. She didn't really want to intrude on the other girl but on the other hand she would feel far too awkward to just walk away now. She did drop her hand rather quickly, as the other girl clearly didn't do physical contact. She understood. For some kids it wasn't as simple due to their parents, although she had no idea which deity this girl belonged to. Probably one of the minor gods, as Arista had started to recognise most of the olympian faces by now. Not all, but still a decent amount of them. She shifted her weight uncomfortably before picking up some sketching gear herself. She wasn't really good with art but she loved making it. That was good enough for her. "Nice to meet you Magnolia. I'm Arista." She paused a little awkwardly as she started doodling a little bit, mostly shapeless designs that meant absolutely nothing. She was hoping it would put her mind at ease a little bit. "Soo, what are you working on?" She asked curiously, doing an attempt at starting a conversation. It was as good as she currently could manage, especially since the other blonde didn't seem particularly talkative. MAGNOLIA WITHERS

Magnolia raised an eyebrow as the girl introduced herself again. She had to bite her tongue, very tempted to point out that the girl had already said her name. Then, she noticed that the girl was getting some sketching supplies herself and joined Magnolia at the table. She pursed her lips a little, before glancing down at her sketch pad and, started to move the pencil across the paper. She didn't intend on talking again, because talking was stupid, but Arista seemed quite keen on it. Because after only a few moments of silence, the other girl spoke again, asking Magnolia what she was working on. Now, Magnolia wouldn't say she was really good at drawing except for a few things. Ironically, she was good at drawing flowers and trees. Stupid, right? She could draw the things she destroyed. Ugh. So far, she'd unintentionally started to sketch out a flower of some kind. She'd seen it somewhere, but she couldn't actually name what kind of flower it was. "The bane of my existence," she answered moodily. It really was, but she could at least be... well positive about it. But no. Positive wasn't Magnolia. You'd think she was the child of depression, not famine, with the way she acted.

The other girl wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows. She was closed off to the point it bordered on rude and Arista was feeling more and more awkward every single second. She had half a mind to cut the conversation that hadn't even started yet short but figured it was better to give it one more try. Everybody needed friends and well, she was the kind of girl to want to be friends with those that had trouble fitting in. Not to mention she couldn't be overly picky with friendships due to her parentage. At least this girl didn't seem to worry about pissing her off, which was a good thing, right? When she mentioned the bane of her existance Arista couldn't resist the temptation and glanced at the paper the other girl was drawing a ... flower on? Was this girl allergic or something? I mean, why else would one call flowers the bane of their existence? Arista frowned ever so slightly. "Well, I have hayfever so I guess....." She looked a bit confused. She had no idea how to save herself. "You do draw it very nicely. Seems like you have an eye for detail." Arista said, trying to be nice. She started out with some lines at that point, drawing the vague shape of a silhouette in the darkness. It was the way she usually kind of pictured her dad. She wondered what he was like, if his reputation was fabricated or true. She was pretty sure she had hayfever because Persephone was bitter about her existance to the point that Arista didn't particularly like spring. The flowers were beautiful but the allergies were a nightmare. It seemed like a fair enough revenge, she supposed. MAGNOLIA WITHERS
