PERSONALITY


Marion looks like a typical Aphrodite kid on the outside. She deeply cares about the way she looks and is always dressed to the nines, with her hair and makeup looking like a masterpiece. She is kind, sweet, and others find it easy to confide in her. She always keeps her promises and is an excellent secret keeper.

Though she works very hard to maintain her exterior image, she is not shallow. She is fiercely protective of the people she loves and the few who have had the misfortune of angering her never make the mistake again. She does not like being unable to do things and will work incredibly hard in order to master difficult skills. Determined, loyal, fierce, sweet, and gorgeous are all ways she has been described. 



HISTORY



Richard Carew, celebrated model and millionaire, was cocky, self-confident, and attractive. He met the goddess Aphrodite at a red carpet movie premiere. He captivated her all evening with his witty banter and compliments of her beauty. The pair had a single night of romance, one he would often think of as he reminisced about his life. The next day he pondered on how her personality had shifted throughout the night, but he didn't let it bother him too much.

Unfortunately, Richard didn't have long to relive the best night of his life. He began to have strokes soon after the encounter, each worse than the last. They had been a problem his entire life, but he had managed to keep them under control. Aphrodite appeared at his bedside one evening, two infants in her arms. She explained to the dying man that they were their children, two twin girls. Both of the girls were special and different. The fluid nature of her personality on their night together had resulted in a Greek demi-god and a Roman demi-god. Knowing he would probably not making it through the night, he pleaded with Aphrodite to find some way for the girls to be raised. The goddess chose to leave Marion in the room with her father, and take her twin sister, Leila, to live with a foster family in New Rome.

The next morning, family had come to visit Richard only to find he had passed away in the night, a baby girl sleeping on his bed, and a note explaining how he wanted the girl cared for. Thanks to some quick work by his lawyers and the Mist no one questioned Marion's parentage. An aunt and uncle, Amelia and Steve, took her into their home, a stipend from her father's fortune providing for anything she could possibly need.

Marion grew up loved. She was taught to respect others, respect herself, and never let anyone mess with the people she loved. Despite being the daughter of a millionaire and having an aunt and uncle who were in a similar financial situation, she was raised to take nothing for granted. She worked for the things she needed and was encouraged to explore her interests.

Always one to see what she could do, Marion pushed the boundaries of her home. She would toe the line, figuring out exactly how far she could go before she got in trouble. Sometimes she could even avoid the trouble all together if she cried hard enough, though that was only with her tutors, never with her aunt and uncle who would not stand for any such foolishness.

As a child, Marion found she could get people to do what she wanted, if she spoke a certain way. Her aunt Amelia saw the blessing of beauty on her niece and immediately began teaching her how to use her gifts appropriately. Open-minded and accepting people, Amelia and Steve didn't seem to care that their darling niece had supernatural abilities, only that she learn to use them responsibly.

There was another ability Marion could not quite figure out. Often she would feel random outbursts of emotion that didn't make sense with her situation. It was more than hormones, especially since it began when she was barely a toddler. She would be having fun one moment all smiles and laughter, then become distraught for no reason. The older she got, the more she came to realize that even when the emotions were similar to her own, they were not hers. She could feel someone else's emotions, and she had no idea who.

At the age of 12, Marion began attracting monsters to her home in upstate New York. The first attack happened during a particularly boring lesson her tutors were giving her. She had decided to charmspeak her way out of homework when her tutor changed from a balding, overweight, middle-aged man in a sweater vest to a balding, overweight, cyclops with a single eye distracting from his sweater vest. It was sheer luck that the pencil she threw speared the cyclops just right that it burst into a cloud of dust.

Soon after that, a young female tutor came to teach Marion. Secretly a satyr for Camp Half-Blood, the tutor worked to teach Marion some of the skills she might need to know without alerting her to her godly heritage. It was from this satyr that Marion learned how to throw a knife, hand to hand combat, and to identify a variety of helpful plants. Just a few months after the satyr became her tutor, and several more monster attacks, Marion was told she was the daughter of a god and she needed to go to Camp Half-Blood. After tearful good byes and promises to write, Marion left her home and moved to Camp Half-Blood to learn the skills she would need to survive in the mortal world. 

Proving herself as a warrior, and as a friend, Marion found that she quite liked her life at Camp Half-Blood. She would visit home on holiday's and long weekend, but lived at camp year round. Her reputation quickly grew as one who could help you through difficult times. Campers came to her with concerns about life, love, and everything in between. She loved helping people and enjoyed figuring out ways to solve disputes. It was at camp where she met her best friend, Gwain. People often thought the two were dating, which didn't bother either of them because then less people were actively pursing them and they could focus on other things. 

When she was 15, the battle of Olympus raged. Marion proudly fought with her brothers and sisters. A year later when the Romans attacked camp, she was more practiced and a deadly warrior, though she strongly believed that there should have been a way to avoid all the bloodshed.

When the opportunity to connect the two camps arose, Marion knew she wanted to be part of what brought peace and unity. She applied to be an ambassador. Part of her reason for wanting to become an ambassador was because she knew whoever's emotions it was that she felt, was not at Camp Half-Blood. They were out in the world somewhere, and this would be one step closer to finding them.



EXPLANATION OF ABILITY SPECIALTY



Marion has charmspeak. She can use her words to influence other's but only as far as her will is stronger than theirs. If a person is deadset on a course of action she could use charmspeak to try and convince them to do the opposite but it might take all of her strength. Marion has worked very hard to build up her self-confidence so that, when needed and appropriate, she can use this power to convince people that her way is the right way. Whenever she uses her ability, the blessing of beauty manifests. She becomes breathtakingly beautiful, something she does not mind taking advantage of when the situation calls for it.

A strange ability, one Marion has never been able to figure out, is her ability to feel someone else's emotions, but only one person's. For as long as she can remember, Marion has had to struggle to differentiate between her own emotions and this other person's. Now as an 18 year-old, she had worked out how to only let her own emotions show, but is incredibly curious to figure out why she can sense how one other person, someone where in the world, is feeling. (OOC: this is an empathy link with her twin sister Leila)

She has practiced for years to become an expert marksman in throwing knives. She always keeps multiple throwing knives on her person.
