PERSONALITY

Aphrodite is the Goddess of love, which means that she is very much everything love can be. She is kind and caring. She helps those she cares about, no questions asked. All the things that make people 'loved ones' are the kind of things you might expect from Aphrodite.

That being said, she also very much represents the cruel side of love. The heartbreak, the cheating, the lack of impulse control. Making people fall in love just to see what will go wrong. In the name of Love, for her, means almost the same as All is fair in Love and War. She is kind and cruel, and both can be seen in more extreme shapes and forms. 

Yet even the less seen aspects that are hardly associated with love are deep within her. Her flaws to do more with wrath and envy and pride. Knowing she is beautiful and feeling anger and resentment at those that would dare disagree with her. Anger at those that destroy beauty in the world around them or simply seek to control it for their own nefarious purposes. Aphrodite often plays wicked little games with purposes in mind that most fail to comprehend. A deeper understanding of her motives often means trying to gain a deeper insight in what the future might contain if driven by Love, although her actions can make that very difficult to see in their sometimes almost seemingly hateful consequences. Love is a privilege and none are entitled to own it. Those that seek to do so tend to face a horrible future. 

HISTORY

Aphrodite was born from an act of cruelty that met acts or deeps done from things we often associate with love. Obsession, protection, loyalty. When Aphrodite arrived it was clear to all that beheld her that she was beautiful and that her beauty was trouble. It was no surprise that she was married off to a man that she felt no special connection to. One that was no threat and would not start a war over her hand. Aphrodite never quite forgave Zeus for this, although she plays the long game and has since the beginning of time. She cares for her husband of course, but that love is different and hidden and filled with a secret regret. 

Yet her existence was mostly spent in pursuit of unbound love, seeking it often and with many different people. While marriage was supposed to end those options, it never did. Aphrodite loved many of the Gods and gifted many of them with children. She took a particular interest in Ares, as volatile and unpredictable as he was, she too could be. Neither of them played by the rules and much to the chagrin of her husband, Aphrodite most often found her disloyalty to lie in the arms of Ares. 

Yet time and time again Aphrodite has fallen in love and meddles in the lives of others for her own purposes. To say it was always done out of love would be far fetched as her own pride and ego know very little in terms of limitations. She is fully aware of her beauty and the power it hold and sees no trouble in exploiting it where needed, something she's done quite often in history. Recently her attention has turned to camp again where she plans to wreak a lot of havoc from behind the scenes.

Aphrodite can work with Love. She can make people fall in and out of love, charm people into doing what she wants in most cases and generally cause a lot of interesting things to happen.
