PERSONALITY

Leila is a very charming, friendly girl. She knows her abilities well as a daughter of Venus and uses them to her advantage, often without really realizing it. She is a outgoing, yet introverted person. In other words, she enjoys reaching out to others and getting to know them and charming them, but it is rare that she will allow someone to get to know her. Leila takes her responsibilities seriously, but also likes to do things on her own. She enjoys flirting and teasing those around her, sometimes just to see what kind of a reaction she can get out of them.

Due to her flirty nature, many people think she doesn't take fighting seriously, but Leila is a dedicated warrior. She trains hard and really enjoys doing well when sparring. She prefers to fight with knives, though if the need arises she can use other weapons. She always has a few knives concealed on her person, however. 

HISTORY

Richard Carew, celebrated model and millionaire, was cocky, self-confident, and attractive. He met the goddess Aphrodite at a red carpet movie premiere. He captivated her all evening with his witty banter and compliments of her beauty. The pair had a single night of romance, one he would often think of as he reminisced about his life. The next day he pondered on how her personality had shifted throughout the night, but he didn't let it bother him too much.

Unfortunately, Richard didn't have long to relive the best night of his life. He began to have strokes soon after the encounter, each worse than the last. They had been a problem his entire life, but he had managed to keep them under control. Aphrodite appeared at his bedside one evening, two infants in her arms. She explained to the dying man that they were their children, two twin girls. Both of the girls were special and different. The fluid nature of her personality on their night together had resulted in a Greek demi-god and a Roman demi-god. Knowing he would probably not making it through the night, he pleaded with Aphrodite to find some way for the girls to be raised. The goddess chose to leave Marion in the room with her father, and take her twin sister, Leila, to live with a foster family in New Rome.

Leila grew up in New Rome in safety and security. The parents Venus placed her with, Ryker and Chloe, cared for Leila as if she were their own. In fact, they doted on her, having no children of their own. Her foster father, Ryker was also a child of Venus, so when Leila started demonstrating her abilities he knew just what to do. To the dismay of Chloe, who often tried to remedy what Ryker taught, he taught Leila how to use her abilities in just the right way to get the things she wanted. Leila was surprisingly gifted when it came to her charmspeak and, with a few lessons from her foster-father, could easily persuade others to see things her way and agree with her on specific issues, without them even realizing she'd used her ability. He also trained her with how to use her looks to her advantage. Leila found that she couldn't always control when she received the blessing of beauty, but she knew how to take full advantage of it. Also, she knew how to dress to impress, in whatever way she was seeking.

Chloe, however, taught Leila how to read people. While it is likely that she tried to teach Leila this for the intent that Leila would learn to connect and open up with other people, that was not the outcome. Instead, her instructions helped Leila even better charmspeak the people around her. She could get to know them easily, through short conversations or observing them for a while, and use that knowledge to her advantage. However, Leila was not one to let others get to know her. She deflected and distracted others when they asked personal questions, often to such a degree that the people didn't even realize their questions hadn't been answered. 

When she was an acceptable age, her foster parents sent her to train with Lupa. It was there that her fighting abilities really improved, though both Ryker and Chloe worked to train with her before she left. When she came back, she was placed in the first cohort. Leila worked hard, fought well, and seemed to have a way with people.

At fifteen, the Roman soldiers set off to attack Camp Halfblood. Leila was with her fellow soldiers in her disgust toward the Greeks and their desire to conquer. Mostly, she was just excited to participate in her first real battle. By that, she meant her first battle against others who were just as well trained as she was. The battle went well, Leila proved herself with her fighting abilities, though she was a bit relieved when the fighting ended. At the end it hadn't felt quite so good.

It was only natural for her to rise through the ranks as she grew. Eventually she achieved her goal and became a Centurion. Being a natural-born leader (thanks in part to her charmspeak and ability to gain other people's attention), this was perfect for Leila. She thrived with the chance to inspire others and help them know what they are supposed to do.


EXPLANATION OF ABILITY SPECIALTY

Leila is very similar to other daughters of Venus in several ways. She is very good at being charming, beautiful and fluent in French. When going into battle (or battle games) she likes to dress in a way that emphasizes her beauty to try and throw off her opponents, but don't let that confuse you. She is a powerful warrior. Leila's strongest ability is Charmspeak. Leila has an affinity for understanding people and what they want. This makes it so that when she uses her charmspeak, she is able to phrase things in such a way that she can often persuade people to do what she wants them to do. She tries to do it in such a way that the person she is charming doesn't even realize it is happening, especially when she is speaking with people who know of her ability. One of her weaknesses is that Leila places little trust in others. While she enjoys charming them and encouraging people to do as she wishes (using her charmspeak or not), Leila rarely gives other people the chance to get to know the real her. All others see is the beautiful, charming warrior that she wants them to see. 

Unbeknownst to her, Leila shares an empathy link with her twin sister, Marion. She doesn't know what it is, but there are times when her emotions switch without reason. She feels randomly happy or starts crying for no reason. Mostly, Leila is annoyed whenever this happens. She works hard to keep her appearance as one of strength, an example for those around her. Crying for no reason weakens that, so when she feels the slightest sense of sad emotions, she excuses herself, not wanting anyone to see what might happen. Someday, she wants to figure out what this is.
