PERSONALITY

Harley is a nerd, she doesn’t go out of her way to talk to just anyone; unless there is a debate in regards to Game of Thrones, Zombies, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Lord of the Rings. Mainly anything that is considered geeky Harley probably has a knowledge base that is a little over the top. Harley is very smart about computers and other technologic based things. This holds her interest a lot of the time and it’s the best way to get her out of her shell. She is what her mother usually says is “ a tough nut to crack”. Meaning she doesn’t really come out of her shell easily. Harley is an incredibly patient person; but push the right buttons and the darker side of her personality resurfaces. Harley’s mother always pushed her to be really good at fighting, as her mother was a world ran martial artist. So Harley was expected to follow her mother’s legacy. This only meant that Harley knows how to fight, and she sometimes can go too hard if she needs to. It’s hard to get her to this point but it does happen.

Harley is one of those people that is really cool but she doesn’t know that she is cool. She just likes to find a reason to not think of herself as a cool person. Most people enjoy her blunt sense of humor, or her incessant need to ramble until she thinks that her point has been adequately heard. She isn’t very direct in that she sometimes is very long winded. Her confident side really is hidden away but once someone gets to know her they will see that Harlow is filled to the bring with confidence and is able to carry herself around them with confidence. Harlow just needs the right amount of time to open up to the right person. Her mother spent a lot of years though teaching her not to just trust anyone which sometimes comes out as a fear of meeting new people, or a strong dislike of it. It is something she is working hard on relearning that it’s okay to make friends. <p>

She is very good at following rules and orders given to her. Her happiest is doing things with technology and geeking out with other’s who understand her. She is newer to camp and is trying very hard to see where she fits in all of this.

HISTORY

Harlow Sachi Nguyen or ‘blessed child’ as her mother would fondly call her daughter was born to Sabin Nguyen after Sabin won a bronze medal in a national martial arts championship. Sabin went out and partied very hard that evening and fell into bed with Vulcan. It was a night that Sabin would always remember fondly, and then nine months later Sabin brought Harlow into the world. Sabin eventually married her long time coach Harold who raised Harley from a young age. Harley thought of him as a father and never really thought much about it. Her mother however would hold Harlow to an almost impossible standard, she would always say things about needing the fighting skills to help her in life. Harlow sometimes resented it. A lot of time in her young childhood, Harlow spent traveling with her mother. She didn’t have friends, the friends she did have were in the cartoons she watched, the anime she’d watch. Or the comic books she’d read. When she wasn’t doing school or reading a comic she was found training with her mother who would always set aside a few hours a day to make sure she was well trained.

She spent a long time traveling the world with her mother which was probably why she learned a few languages. She was not fluent in any one language but enough to get by and hold small conversations. Harley was just happy when her mother settled in California. She finally had a home base and it felt amazing. She was there for three years. She had a few friends, she was co-captain of the chess club. Harlow did really well there. She was thirteen when she realized she was gifted with technology, she could switch the time on her mother’s phone without trying, she could unlock all the parental locks on the electronic devices. It was brought on when Sabin forced her to practice when she didn’t want. She wasn’t extreme hatred but it was a dark part of her. It was after this occurred, that Harlow asked her mother about her father. Sabin wasn't sure how to go about it but she explained to Harlow that she was a demigod and her father was Vulcan. Harlow thought her mother was crazy; Demigod? But that evening in her dream it was like she could hear him over the crackling fire as he said he loved her and she was his daughter. He claimed her. She shot up in bed sweat caking her forehead thinking it was her way of wanting it to be true. That night Harlow was claimed by her father.

She started to try and do it more and more after the first time. However sometimes used it to miss a practice with her mother. This usually only resulted in her working longer and harder under her mother’s watchful eye. She spent two years growing the skill but really only ever getting enough to switch time and find passwords on the computer. It was infuriating and if she got made she usually ended up melting the mother board of an electronic device. This was made harder when her mother had twin boys. They became a large part of her life, she loved her brother’s but she felt very different about it.

Harlow was fifteen when it happened just three weeks before her sixteenth birthday and first martial arts tournament when a Siren cam after her. She was in between sets. Her head phones were on so she didn’t notice it at first, she left school to go to her mother’s dojo. When she was attacked. She was attacked by a manticore. She was running and she ran through her mother’s dojo. He mother didn’t have time to scream at her she saw the thing. She pointed to the car and they just drove, her mother sped through the streets and soon enough the sun went down. It was then that she learned about who exactly her father was. She was shocked to say the least. Sabin brought Harlow to a safe space, a place her father told her mother to bring her too. She promised her mother that she would write to her everyday. Her mother had to leave her in this heavily wooded area. She was about to kick something when they caught her foot and knocked her out. To this day she has no idea what collected her. But when Harlow woke up she was with Lupa. Lupa spent a few days evaluating Harlow. Harlow was pushed a lot, evaluated numerous times. Once she was finally deemed worthy she was taken to camp. Once in camp a letter appeared in her sweatshirt pocket. It stated she was worthy of cohort 3. Now it’s time to settle in and learn most to learn.

EXPLANATION OF ABILITY SPECIALTY

Technokinesis: The ability to manipulate technology; right now she can only manipulate technological devices doing small things. However she will be able to expand that with the right training, she can create new technologies, do better manipulations, and when she sleeps she can see computer data indicating she has the ability to mentally interface with data of technical devices.
