One of the more interesting things about the Demeter cabin was actually tucked around back. They had a greenhouse to house the plants that weren’t normally in season in the weather that existed for the rest of the camp. Sure, they could make things grow when out of season but that required someone being there the whole time or else it would die from being in the wrong weather. The green house was perfect for when someone wanted to grow something besides strawberries. The strawberries they always had to grow. Ben enjoyed the fruit but it was boring, the same fruit over and over. Even if they did sell well and it helped the camp keep running he couldn’t help but wish to spice it up a little.

The green house was just about ready to go. It just needed one last detail, the actual weather inside to be set to something more like summer. For that he knew just the person. They were friendly enough to one another so he didn’t feel to bad asking for a favor and was willing to bribe or pay for the help. The green house door opened and he looked over to see who he was expecting. “Well if it isn’t just a Sunny day.” Ben joked, he typically used her name in some form of pun type greeting.

Sunny Lee knew her ability wasn't as cool as some demi-gods' were. She couldn't make plants grow or control light or darkness or have advanced weapon skills. Still, it was a pretty cool gift. For example, in a battle with another demi-god she could use heated air to exhaust them without even touching them. She could warm up a chilly room in winter time without the need of a fire or heater. And then there was today's role in the greenhouse. Sunny Lee considered Benjamin a good friend and was happy to help him with the plants in the greenhouse. Again, it made her feel useful as a Daughter of Notus.

She smirked when Ben delivered the opening line. He was a goofball, but he was chill and it hardly bothered her.

"Starting early with the name puns I see. Here, let me try one. Hi there, how have you... Ben? Ugh, that sounded funnier in my head. Anyway, which of these lovely plants need what level of heat? I can do anything from a warm breeze to a full swelter." Sunny Lee could probably do more at full power, but that could seriously harm Ben and drain her, and she didn't want either to happen.

Ben smiled as Sunny came into the greenhouse and had already seemed to be ready for whatever pun he might have had that involved her name. That and she even attempted to try and make a pun out his own name. He laughed as it was a decent attempt. Before explained what she could do toward the plants. Also not many words worked with Ben and even less with Benjamin. “It was still pretty funny.” Ben replied with another laugh, just having someone to laugh and make jokes with was always good. He didn’t need to discourage her and say it was a bad attempt, especially when it wasn’t. “Most of these actually and just summer weather would be amazing. Trying to grow some corn over here.” Ben explained with a pointing gesture to one side of the greenhouse. “Some melons over there and green beans there.” Each plant had him pointing to different planters boxes. “Can’t just grow strawberries all day.”

Sunny Lee appreciated Ben for liking her bad humor. She considered herself a fun person. A funny person? Well, not so much. She didn't quite have the comedic timing of, say, a Hermes kid. Still, she could make bad jokes with Ben and pull them off fairly well.

"Sadly, that was my A-material. You don't want to hear the B-material." She grinned at that. She then looked about as Ben went over the plants. Summer weather. That was her specialty. She had just the right temperature in mind. "Sure thing. One warm summer day in the greenhouse coming up!"

Sunny Lee closed her eyes and concentrated. She had her ability down for the most part, and could control it pretty darn well. She hadn't recalled an issue since she was fourteen. She made a lot of people sweat... literally... that day. As she focused, the room began to get warmer with a summer wind. Once it was locked in, she opened her eyes and smiled at Ben.

"Ta-da!" she said before taking a bow. "You know, as fun as it is to make opponents sweat in Capture the Flag, I do try to use my power for good. I'd love to get first dibs on those strawberries though."

“Oh please, I’d love to hear the B-material sometime. Even bad jokes can still be funny. If only for how bad they are.” Ben explained with a small laugh. “My father had a horrible one. Why did the tree move away?” Ben gave a small pause but not enough for Sunny to attempt to answer, this joke wasn't worth the attempt. “Because it had to leaf. I don’t know why he was so proud of it and he laughed every time.” Still even now Ben laughed slightly, mostly to himself. Not because he found it funny but because of his father.

Sunny said she was ready and as she closed her eyes he could feel the temperature of the greenhouse going up. It felt like a proper summer day. Which he wanted even if heat and hot temperatures weren’t exactly his thing. If he was a plant he would have been a spring one. Plenty of sun but nice cool breezes and temperatures. The children of Demeter loved to compare and think of what plant they were most like at time.

With a Ta-da sunny explained she was done before going into how nice it was to use her powers for good. “I’m sure a beach out there would pay handsomely for summer weather all year round. That would be using it for good.” Ben said partially joking as if it probably wasn’t allowed it might be a good idea. It would also get boring and be a waste of a perfectly good power. “I’d be happy to sneak you some, Olympus knows I eat more than they’d like me to when I have to harvest them.”

Sunny Lee chuckled when she heard Ben's dad's joke. Yes, it was bad, but Ben was right. Even bad jokes were funny in their own way. It gave Sunny Lee the confidence to tell one of her mom's jokes.

"Here's one from my mom. Let's see which one's worse. How do you know the ocean is going to be friendly on a given day? It will... WAVE at you. As a kid, I thought that was the greatest joke ever."

Sunny Lee had thought of the beach thing, but she knew there would be drawbacks. Demi-God powers were so fickle after all.

"Don't know if I could cover a major beach, and if I did, I'd be drained pretty quickly. I'd probably have to take a three day nap afterward." That would be weird given how energetic Sunny Lee usually was. She then smiled about the strawberries. Just the thought was making her hungry. "Nice. The strawberries are sooo good here. You know what I would love? A good, fresh fruit salad with some of the strawberries here and some Florida oranges. I definitely miss those from back home. You haven't had orange juice until you've had it the way my mom makes it."

Ben laughed as Sunny offered up her mothers bad joke to compare to his fathers. “That wasn’t even that bad. I think your mother wins for having the better joke. Of my father does for having the worse one.” Ben explained as he couldn’t think of a joke much worse than his own fathers. Still it might have been possible somewhere out there.

“True, maybe just on days the rich families come out and want to pay extra for a really nice day.” Still might be a waste of being a demigod when they could do so much more. Yet it would surely make someone more money than fighting monsters all day. Sunny seemed excited by the idea of strawberries but explained how she missed oranges too. Ones from Florida as that’s where a lot of oranges came from anyway. That and how her mom made orange juice. “Well I can try my best to try and talk them into letting me grow some oranges at some point. Can’t promise that the orange juice will even come close to your mothers though.”

Sunny Lee chuckled at how Ben looked at things. She then expanded her arms dramatically.

"Hey, everyone's a winner in the pun game," she said. "Mom had a few more ocean jokes, but I need to recall them. She was the goof ball of all her surfing friends. I tried to be the same with mine, but I can't really come up with jokes like she could."

Sunny Lee just rolled her eyes at Ben's get rich quick schemes for her. She was actually pretty well off thanks to her mom being a championship surfer and always getting endorsement deals, even now that she was semi-retired. Sunny Lee did wonder who she would endorse. She really hoped a soda company didn't bother her. Bleh.

"I think I'll be fine without that little payday," she chuckled. Sunny Lee then smiled about the oranges. Yes, she doubted anything would top her mom's homemade orange juice, but she guessed something connected to the gods would be pretty good. "I'm sure it will be fine. I mean, the juice at breakfast is pretty good, though I think I like the camp's cranberry juice a bit more." It was actually really good, and they sold bottles of it at the camp store.

“I think the winners are just the people telling the puns. If it’s a bad one the losers are everyone who had to hear it.” Ben joked as even bad puns had a place. They might have been met with more of a grown than a laugh but they still had their time. Sunny explained her mother had other puns but she would need to try and remember them. “Be sure to tell me when you do recall them. I can always use more good or bad puns to tell other people.” He said with a smile as he liked having a joke handy if the situation called for it.

Sunny explained she was fine without having to work at some beach for a payday. “True but it never hurts to have a plan B.” This was all just them joking and hypothetical at that too. Ben on the other hand would be doing just what he does today. Making plants grow, probably be on some farm somewhere. So his life wouldn’t have changed too much. As Sunny spoke of breakfast and mostly the juice they served Ben did feel a moment of hunger. “I guess I know what to treat you to sometime for the help today.”

Sunny Lee thought of some other ones just then, but only one seemed good enough to tell.

"Okay, did you hear about that epic party the crabs and lobsters had? It was a... shell of a good time. Oh... and the party was part of a mandatory contract. It was in the... claws. Sort of a two-part joke. Mom had me in tears when she first told me that one, and I didn't even know what a contract clause was at that age."

Sunny Lee smirked about the Plan B.

"Oh, well I try to have a Plan B, C, D, and E. Never an F. I can't think that fat ahead." Sunny Lee then blushed when Ben promised to treat her to juice. True, her heart belonged to Collins Velerex, but a cute guy offering to treat her was appreciated. "Dawww, thanks buddy. It was really no problem though. I like helping people when my god-given ability. I think the Wind Gods don't get a lot of props like the Olympians do, and really my ability is actually usually more appreciated at colder times of the year. When it actually gets cold in Florida, Mom appreciates me making things a bit warm and toasty in the beach house." She then chuckled. "I am blabbing on. How are you, Ben? How's the planting going in general?"
