Alaric Corbin Drake|Camp Half-blood|17|Hephaestus| |TELUMKINESIS|Douglas Booth|He/Him/His|
PERSONALITY
Likes: Building, forging, constructing, fighting, eating
Dislikes: harsh sunlight, being given useless gifts/trinkets, feeling like his time is wasted, feeling like he was taken for granted/not being appreciated, feeling like a side-kick
Ric is someone who fades into the background sometimes on purpose, and sometimes against his best wishes. He keeps his head down and focuses mostly on his work. He's a tall man with dark hair, dark eyes, and a very brooding face. His personality matches well. He doesn't tend to smile and it's a rare sight if you ever get to see it. That being said, he is protective over the few people he ends up getting attached to and would do anything to make them smile. He's selective with the people that he loves and is fairly closed off when it comes to adding new people to the mix. He's a tough egg to crack.
Ric is not much for conversation. If a stranger approached him, he wouldn't be rude, he'd say hi, he'd make the pleasantries, but he doesn't keep the conversation going longer than it would need to go. The most words the average person should expect to get out of him include what kind of weapon they want when they come to request something at the forge. The forge is his happy place.
Ric wouldn't call himself evil, but he wouldn't say that he's a good person either. He has a lot of resentment towards his father for making his life so hard growing up (as most demi-gods can probably relate to) and his resentment and the idea of possible revenge got the better of him when Luke approached him a few years back to make weapons for him and his allies. Ric agreed and joined the cause, feeling in that moment, fulfilled.
HISTORY
Alaric's mother was a Renaissance Faire regular. She traveled on the circuit and had her own booth selling small daggers and forged jewelry that she made in her traveling forge that lived in the back of her pickup truck and could be easily reassembled at every stop. it was on the circuit that she met Hephaestus, he took an interest in her wares and then an interest in her. Alaric was the result of that union, much to the dismay of his mother. She had the baby and attempted to continue on the circuit, but soon was asked to stop by the rest of the faire community because she couldn't keep a newborn baby living in a tent.
She always resented Alaric for it. It was his fault that she had to get an apartment and start to sell her goods online instead. They never sold as well online and she let him know. It was very usual that she'd lecture him about the amount of money and happiness that he had cost her. How dare he be born, he had been told once or twice. he was such an inconvenience. She'd use adoption as a threat while he was young, if he didn't behave, she'd put him up for adoption, she'd threatened. But she never actually let him go. And that was the hard thing. He wanted to be let go, as messed up as that was. he couldn't imagine a life worse than what he had with his single mother who despised him, and a father whom he had never met and who his mom got mad at him if he ever dared to bring up.
To makes matters worse it wasn't until he was 13 that he found out that he was a Demi-god, he supposed his dad had better things to do than keep an eye on him. As if he had been an afterthought to camp-halfblood as well. His feelings regarding the camp, the people there, and the fact that his father was really a God, all added up to him making the choice to join Kronos's army. he felt like he had absolutely nothing to loose but everything to gain. He felt like he could benefit them with the skills he had learned from his mother and her forge. So he joined up, first only agreeing to help supply them with weapons, and then agreeing to fight with them. He realized he had made the wrong decision a little too late, however, and then found himself stuck. True plans came out of the wood works and suddenly it wasn't about taking revenge on the Gods and was more about destroying the world. In the last battle, he switched sides and helped the demi-gods eventually win the war, suffering sever damage to both his ego and his body in the process.
Now, Ric works the forges at Camp Half-blood, enjoying the last little bit of time he has left at the camp. While he still wouldn't say he feels entirely at home there, he dose appreciate the new sense of loyalty he feels to it.
EXPLANATION OF ABILITY SPECIALTY
TELUMKINESIS | the ability to control or manipulate weapons. Ric has the ability to speak to forged weapons, in a sense. Especially those he made or that were touched by him in some way. He almost feels a kinship with them; like he understands them and they understand him. it works better for weapons not currently be held by another, those that were dropped in battle, but it does work with weapons currently being used in battles, however it's draining and requires more focus, which isn't always possible in the heat of the battle.
