Zelena wasn't a fan of the campfire songs. She thought they were goofy and that people looked goofy singing them. The whole thing gave her a headache, and not even a good healing remedy from Apollo's cabin could take that type of annoying pain. Besides, she needed a place to work on her spell-casting, so slipped away to another party of the lake.
Zelena found a good spot, and had a good view of the full moon. She sighed as she opened her spell scroll. She had been trying to get this spell right for weeks, but with little success. She was good, and had clearly proven she was her mother's daughter. However, this was some pretty advanced magic, something Hecate herself would probably take seriously. Zelena looked over at a tree and muttered the incantation. The leaves began to flutter and slowly transform into a trio of bats. They loyally flew around Zelena, but she sighed again when she looked at them.
"Fruit bats. You're supposed to be vampire bats. Oh well... at least you're bats this time." Last time they were really dark sparrows. Still, Zelena knew she could do better. She plopped down on a rock and looked at the scroll again.

It had always been a mixture of goth and steampunk, although most mistook it for steampunk because the girl always tended to carry coils of electrical cables with her whenever she went. She toyed with them and many other things, playing with their conductive abilities and seeing what did or did not influence them. Today she was mostly unable to sleep in the cabin that she was supposed to call home. Whatever. She'd headed over to the lake, more than willing to risk the harpies that evening for the sake to see anything other than the inside of the walls that night. She watched from a distance as somebody she vaguely knew to be a daughter of Hecate was sitting by the lake looking like she was doing magic. Well, it made more sense when the three leaves turned into three bats, something that made Eowyn peak her interest as she made her way over to the other girl. She heard her mention that they were supposed to be different kinds of bat but she chuckled softly. "I think they're cute either way." She said before inviting herself to sit down beside the other girl. She looked at the bats a little more. "Are they tame? I'd love a bat as a pet and fruit is easy enough to come by." She mused as she looked at their adorable fluttering forms. She wasn't exactly what most considered to be normal to begin with so people wanting to summon vampire bats wasn't crazy to her. Honestly, they would make even cooler pets and she didn't really think feeding the adorable little leeches ought to be a problem. Or at least not to her. She could imagine that her cabin mates would have very different opinions on the subject. Well, she'd find that out when she would find that out if it was possible to keep the bats as pets to begin with. It probably wouldn't be. ZELENA LOPEZ

Zelena slowly looked up when the other girl stepped over. It took a moment, but she recognized her from the Nemesis Cabin. Zelena often wondered who got the weirder looks at the camp, the offspring of Hecate or those of Nemesis. Well, maybe the kids of Hades got it the worse. Of all the dark and brooding gods, he seemed to be at the top of the mountain ... or rather living really far under it. When the girl said the bats were cute, Zelena shrugged. "Fruit bats tend to be. Probably the least feared of their species, no doubt because of the name. People tend to have nightmares about vampires before they do fruit." Zelena delivered this in her usual deadpan manner. She then shrugged about if they were tame. "Most likely, but enjoy them while you can. They'll be leaves again by sunrise. Temporary magic as a precaution. Thank our wonderful superiors for that." Zelena believed that to be a good thing in the long run. Some of her younger half-siblings tended to... make mistakes. Sadly, some spells took longer to wear out than others. Eowyn Oppedyk

It was amusing that most people made the presumption that Eowyn was a volatile sort of person based on her parent. Or that she was particularly apt at holding grudges. It wasn't quite true, she took after her father more. She was easygoing, once you got past the passive parts and the sarcasm. She simply didn't really open up that much and she did have a talent for judging the actions of others far too harshly, especially if it helped to avoid people getting close to her. She was trying to be a better person but all in all she simply... didn't care that much. She'd simply learned that most people didn't have the time to deal with the likes of her, so she didn't make time to deal with them. The outcasts were different though. Not that all Hecate kids were by default outcasts but well, they were weird to others so most people were not too interested in dealing with them. But so far the other girl had been nice to her so Eowyn had no reason to be unbearable just yet. Eowyn couldn't help but chuckle in amusement as the other girl mentioned people having nightmares about vampires before fruit. "Idiots." She muttered. "There are far worse things out there than vampires. At the very least they dress better than most people." She commented with some level of sarcasm, even though she did feel that too many people lacked any sense or resemblance of style. She held her finger out for one of the bats to hang from, delighted when one took the invitation. "I'm going to miss them, I think." She said as she smiled at Fido. She'd already named her little winged buddy. "Don't suppose you could make me a permanent friend? I won't complain if you just turn one of the annoying campers into a bat." She said with a small smile, fully serious about having a fellow camper as pet. It would make them a lot more bearable than they currently were. ZELENA LOPEZ

Zelena couldn't help but smile when the other girl spoke of vampires. She recalled a few ancient origins for vampires went back to Empusa, Hecate's daughter and Zelena's godly half sister. Zelena thought the connection was pretty cool, though she wasn't as anxious to meet her sister as she was her mom. Hecate had her shining moments. Empusa was pretty much a monster as well as a goddess. "Vampires do know how to charm with their fashion. I personally have nothing against them, bat or otherwise. In fact, I'd be jumping for joy... internally... if I got this spell right. Vampire bats can be stubborn though, especially when one is trying to form them from another entity."Zelena smirked about the pet bat and changing a camper into one. She rose and thought a moment. "Tempting, but I can't jeapordize my role as cabin counselor. And if the spell went wrong, you're looking at a giant bat creature terrorizing the camp, and not the noble comic book kind. Still, I can do this."]/b] Zelena muttered an incantation and a small bat, an actual bat, flew into view. It landed upside down on a small branch near the Nemesis daughter. "She should be tame enough for you to touch."

To say that Eowyn was a little like a kid in a candy store when bats could behave like proper pets would not have been an exaggeration. Her eyes widened and lit up like little lightbulbs with every interaction with the bats, even if they were doomed to be gone by morning. The poor little creatures were simply misunderstood, not evil. Even the ones that did suck blood were not evil, only hoping to survive. Not to mention that it wasn't their fault if they were sick and carried lethal viruses. Humans did far worse and people could manage to tolerate them, so why not the poor innocent little bats? Because humans were hypocrites, that's why! And most demigods were human and therefore just as bad. She didn't need that kind of negativity in her life. She nodded about vampire fashion. "Kids at school used to think I'm a vampire wannabe because of my style choices. Idiots. Not everybody dresses like a cheerful little butterfly." She said, the disgust dripping from her voice so obviously that it wasn't too hard to see why the girl didn't seek out social interaction that much. Once she established a crowd of friends she didn't seek out more, although she was willing to welcome those others brought in. The idea of a giant bat terrorising camp had Eowyn smiling. "Oh I'd actually love to see that." She said, a strange gleam in her eyes. "If I have to die, I'd opt in for that kind of gruesome death. Regular monster death is boring. I'd rather be fried by a lightning bolt from Zeus. That is my top choice for death, honestly." She said in full earnest. She was skeptical enough about their odds of survival, especially since being holed up in the Roman camp and their cute little city wasn't exactly something she considered to be awfully appealing. She knew it was possible, even more so for kids of minor gods such as herself but that didn't mean that she felt it to be likely for herself. And then the real bat came flying in and Eowyn died a little on the inside by love overload for the adorably cute little creature. She insantly headed over, careful not to spook it. "You are the most gorgeous thing I've seen in years." She cooed at the bat adoringly. She stretched out a finger and softly ran it across the adorable tiny head that was so close now. That did it, she was in love. She looked over her shoulder at the other girl, her eyes narrowing slightly in consideration. "We should be friends. You're actually nice to me and I'm not quite used to that." She petted the bat a little more. "Besides, you keep good company." She said, obviously referring to the little critter. ZELENA LOPEZ

Zelena knew one thing right then and there. She never wanted to see anyone dress up like a cheerful little butterfly. That would be far more terrifying than any vampire costume. She also knew another thing. She liked this girl. This girl got it. She wasn't just another part of the tapestry. Like Zelena, she stood out. "Shame we all have to wear these lovely orange shirts here. I'm quite fond of dark clothing myself."The Nemesis daughter was delightfully odd, wanting to meet her doom in certain ways. Zelena got that. Who wanted to die a mediocre death? Demi-gods deserved better... well most of them did. "Burned to desth instantly by magically produced fire is how I want to go, or maybe turned to stone by Medusa. At least then I'll be useful as a work of art."Zelena watched as the girl reacted to the bat she summoned before the girl turned to her and offered friendship. Zelena shrugged at that. "Cool, I'm down, and I find no reason to be cold to you. You don't annoy me like the largest and worst folk band in history over there by the fire. You seem to actually think outside of the proverbial box. By the way, I'm Zelena. I would shake your hand, but I loathe being touched at almost all times."Eowyn Oppedyk

Zelena commented on the orange shirt and Eowyn chuckled and looked down at her orange monstrosity. She'd artfully dismantled it and made it match her ensemble as well as she could manage. She could decently manage to work with needle and thread, although that had been more part of an experiment to do with wires than a desire to learn how to sow. Not that the skills didn't come in handy by now. Her official shirt had been torn to look permanently like a fashionable monster attack had taken place. She'd gotten herself some black shorts with orange detailing and her stockings were artfully torn in just the right places. Her combat boots had orange laces in them and the black mesh top that covered the parts the shirt no longer could cover finished the ensemble. Camp wear, but completely her own style. "I mean." She shrugged. "I can help you out in customizing. If you have a spell to switch the colours it'd be ten times better already." She said thoughtfully as she tapped her lips with her index finger as she looked at the outfit of the other girl. "Black shirt, orange logo." Eowyn grinned a truly wicked little grin at the other girl as she mentioned being a piece of art. "I'd settle for that, but only if I can personally ensure I don't end up basic with a terror expression. Like, I want to look like the kind of art piece people would either love and adore or be so confused about that they'd get it for that reason." She said, nodding to herself. Perhaps like a viking pose could work? She chuckled as she stretched her leg above her head in a strange dancer like pose. "Medusa me!" She said dramatically and chuckled as she sat down again. Eowyn understood what she meant when she talked about the folk band but she couldn't help but shrug. "Most folk bands sound a lot better. It's a lot less boring and all of the same." She said, thinking of some of the bands she listened to at times for sake of variation. She liked more styles of music than her clothes on average suggested. She nodded slightly as the other girl mentioned not liking to be touched. "Fine by me. I don't care either way. Convention is for boring people." She said and grinned with a little wink. "I'm Eowyn. I don't do nicknames because both Eo and Wyn sound stupid to me." She said as a matter of introduction. ZELENA LOPEZ

Eowyn offered to customize the shirts and suggested a spell. Zelena looked down and thought it over a moment. If they did so, they would stand out. They would anger people. They would... wait they would have a bunch of the other kids who were sick of the orange shirts wanting cooler looking ones as well, and then they would suddenly be the popular kids at camp. Zelena shuddered at that. "Um... that might not end well," she said. "Just... trust me on that." She gave Eowyn the "I know what I'm talking about" look. For now, the ugly orange would remain. Zelena smirked a little as Eowyn did the pose and said to Medusa her. Hilarious. Zelena would have laughed if she ever laughed. "Well it would be a noteworthy pose to hold for all eternity," she said. "I want to be frozen in stone giving someone a death glare myself."
Zelena was glad Eowyn was down with her not being touched and not questioning her like some of the Athena kids did, the ones who had to know everything. She then nodded about not calling Eowyn anything but Eowyn. "I feel the same way about Zelena. Some kids here used to call me Zena, and then did the whole Lucy Lawless yell. My name doesn't start with an X... morons."Eowyn Oppedyk

When Zelena sid that adjusting clothes might not be a good idea, Eowyn was a tad disappointed but she knew better than to argue. She was still not quite used to being at camp and made plenty of mistakes. Maybe this time she'd stay as a year rounder this time. It was about time she got bettter acquainted with both her abilities and her fellow campers. She might not like all of them all the time (or rather, half of them half the time) but they were her kind and unlike mortals, they understood being hunted by monsters. They knew the fear and thrill of fighting for your life where mere mortals rarely did. Well, unless they were in the military or something. Not quite the usual people for Eowyn to hang out with. "Death glares are cool." Eowyn agreed with a grin. "I personally would just like to hold such a memorable pose, in part because you're certain never to get cramps or muscle aches and all the mortals would wonder why on earth you chose that pose for your statue and if you didn't get cramps posing for it. I mean, there mere confusion would be worth it." Eowyn said with half a dreamy grin on her face. The prospect of intriguing people for years to come was certainly an interesting prospect she stood open for. It seemed like a very satisfing way to go. Eowyn chuckled slightly at the Xena reference. It was silly, and Zelena didn't remind Eowyn of the warrior princess at all. She had her own brand thing going on. "If I'd give you a nickname to begin with it'd more likely be Zel or Lena, but not Zena. For me it usually ends up with either Eo or Wyn and both sound kind of silly. Like, I don't know, a funky greeting or somebody that can't pronounce win properly." She pulled a face as she considered it. She only allowed Bella to use a nickname for her, although a nickname that didn't reference her actual name sounded like it could be entertaining. Wire Girl or something would certainly hold up as interesting, if nothing else. Not that she was about to suggest that. ZELENA LOPEZ

Zelena nodded about Eowyn's idea for a pose. She wanted to drive whoever saw her statue to confusion and discomfort. It was a terrible thing to do to others. Zelena loved it. She just loved Eowyn's who mindset. The girl was dark and delightful. "You, my friend, are a genius," she said. "Almost makes me wish Medusa showed up so we could be immortalized." She then shrugged. "Eh, on second thought... I sort of like to be alive and moving. It has its perks. But IF it does happen, I will keep your idea in mind."Eowyn suggested nicknames and that Zelena didn't really go for either, but at the same time they were far better than Zena... or rather Xena. Anything was better than being named after a heroine from a show that took the actual life that Zelena and so many others knew and made a farce out of it. She did respect the gods, and wasn't a fan of them being parodied. "Personally, I like your full name," she said. "It's dark and unusual and beautiful in that. So, you need not worry about me calling you something else." She then shrugged. "And in return, if you could just call me Zelena, that would be amazing."Eowyn Oppedyk

The idea of being immortalised wasn't one that Eowyn minded. She was much like she dressed, not particularly impressed with what mainstream life had to offer. The darkness but gentle feel that much of her main world community offered was comforting, even if they stood out a lot. They were generally kind and open minded people that were not as deeply afraid of death and everything surrounding it as most other individuals seemed to be. Her own brush with death at a young age had not made her frightened, if nothing else it had served as a catalyst. It wasn't that she didn't have a will to live, she merely understood that life could end fast and living in fear wasn't going to make her enjoy her life more. It was nice that there were others at camp that didn't mind the flirtatious mentions and explorations of the many ways that a demigod could get acquainted with Thanatos. Eowyn had to admit in all honesty that her mental image of the guy probably wouldn't be very realistic but well, she imagined he'd be incredibly hot. Probably looked quite a bit like he wouldn't stand out at all in the gothic community. She imagined him with long luscious dark locks and rebellious black outfits with straps, studs and some very fancy boots. If he looked anything at all like that she'd be willing to make him a whole horde of demigod children. Not that she was particularly likely to encounter him prior to actually dying. At that point it was too late anyway. Eowyn grinned. "I like my full name too. It comes from a book, naturally. I think it means something like horse lover? Quite typical considering I'm not a basic horse girl in the end." She chuckled as she remembered the origins of her family. Her grandparents had been horse breeders of Frisians, which were without a doubt the most beautiful horses around. Dark and majestic and ever so beautiful. She knew how to ride but hadn't done so in quite a few years. Perhaps it was something to be picking up again soon? "And of course I can call you Zelena. I was planning on that anyway. I just don't get the whole Zena nickname. I suppose it shows the intelligence of the average individual." She mused in an almost singsong voice. ZELENA LOPEZ

Zelena nodded as Eowyn said her name had come from a book. That was really cool. Zelena's name didn't, and it definitely didn't come from a TV show. She remembered asking her father the origin of her name. "Mine came from my great-grandmother who was a carnival fortune teller. Zelena was her stage name. Zelena The All-Seeing And All-Knowing, She actually had the gift too, but her family kicked her out for supposedly being... evil. She wanted to use her gift for something worthwhile, but she also had to eat, so the carnival was an easy way to have food and a roof over her head. Dad said the others in the carnival respected her a lot though. She died about a year after I was born, but she gave my father her blessing to name me after her. Wish I had gotten to know her. She seemed pretty cool."Zelena was glad Eowyn planned on calling her by her full name. It seemed like the two were going to get along quite well. Zelena stood quietly for a moment, and then sighed a bit. "I think I'm going to try that spell again. What have I got to lose? Just don't laugh if I screw up."Eowyn Oppedyk

It was quite the interesting story, the origin of Zelena's name. The gift was probably related to magic, which made sense with all the spell work. Eowyn nodded as she listened to the story. "She sounds really cool. Super badass, you know? I do not like her parents at all. Mine were properly freaked out when they found out I was a demigod and everything but they took it pretty well. They said that adopting was just like choosing to have a kid. Just because they turn out different than expected doesn't mean you're allowed to love them any less. It's a good rule for parenting in my book." Eowyn grinned a bit of a wicked grin as Zelena told her not to laugh. "I might, if they are like batterflies or something. You know, butterflies but with a cute bat body that suck the blood of unsuspecting victims? I would laugh but they would be kinda cool." And naturally they'd turn on her in a second and she'd have no reasons left to laugh. Asking a Nemesis kid not to laugh wasn't too realistic though. She and her siblings usually just loved conflict far too much. Eowyn just liked creating trouble from time to time though. ZELENA LOPEZ
