CALYPSOTitaness Turned Mortal|unknown|Atlas|None (Lost All Powers)|Crystal Reed
PERSONALITY
Calypso is a woman who has seen a lot years, and has had a lot of people come and go (mostly go) in her life. Because of this, she has developed a tough exterior, and finds it incredibly hard to open up and trust anyone. She is either short-fused and waspish towards strangers or painfully shy depending on first impressions, since from past experience the minute she lets anyone in too close they will leave her forever. She has a hard time letting people make promises to her, as knows promises could only go a long way where she was concerned. Even now, a year off her island prison, she still sometimes forgets that she is no longer cursed as she was, and seeks solitude to fight away her trust issues.
With the help of Leo Valdez though, Calypos' true personality, before she was ever cursed, is finally starting to come through. Curious and inquisitive, she's starting to feel comfortable asking all the questions piling up in her brain, sometimes to a point of overwhelming the person in question. She is kinder, more caring and nurturing, still wanting to help people in pain even though she lost her Healing powers. She still has a feisty side, a side that displays itself with the playful bantering between herself and Leo. Calypso is working hard at shedding her intense fears of abandonment, though millennia of watching people come and go from her prison will be a lot to overcome.
HISTORY
Calypso is the Titaness daughter of Atlas and Tethys; she sided with her parents during the war between Titans and the Gods. When the Gods won, Calypso was banished to the island of Ogygias, which only appears to mortals as the Gods will it. Every so often, the Gods will send an injured hero to her; because of her Healing abilities and kind hearted nature, she would Heal the hero and tend to him as they recovered. The minute she would admit her feelings for them, would be the minute Zeus would send a reminder that the hero needed to return to their own world, their own wives, their own lives, leaving Calypso alone and broken-hearted. Among these heros were Odysseus, Sir Francis Drake, and Percy Jackson. Even though every time they'd arrive, Calypso knew they'd leave her, she couldn't help falling for them. Such was her curse bestowed upon her by the Gods. After Percy left and helped win the second war against the Titans, part of his requests included freeing Calypso from her prison. Alas, the Gods did not follow through, leaving Calypso feeling quite bitter and angry. But if she had been freed, she never would have met him.
Enter Leo Valdez, son of Hephaestus. Calypso thought he was the Gods version of irony; the scrawny wise-cracking boy could simply not be viewed as a hero! It angered her more, and she took out this anger on Leo, who would argue right back. Still, it was in her nature to check in on him, feed him, and even make him fireproof clothing so that his didn't burn off while he was doing all his tinkering, and soon Calypso found herself falling, and falling hard. She refused to admit it; she had had men like Odysseus, how could Leo compare to him?? Still, there was something different about Leo; being around him made Calypso feel whole again. And of course, when she admitted it to herself (never out loud), Leo was whisked away by his father, but this time something else happened. Leo swore on the River Styx to come back to her. Calypso took his promise with a grain of salt, and allowed herself to kiss him goodbye. To her immense surprise, Leo did keep his word, and came back for Calypso after dying and being resurrected by the Physicians Cure. He swept her off the island with Festus, his Celestial Bronze dragon, and she was finally free. After a few days off island, Calypso realized that she had lost all her powers and was now mortal; she could die just like any man or woman. None of that really mattered to her; she had Leo and she felt more like a goddess than she ever did when she really was one. Thanks to Leo's half-brother Harley, they soon found the signal of his homing beacon, and were able to return to Camp HalfBlood safe and sound (or as safe and sound as a resurrected Demigod and a mortal Titaness could ever be).
EXPLANATION OF ABILITY SPECIALTY
Since Calypso left the island of Ogygias, she has turned mortal and has thus lost all her powers she had when she was a Titaness. Before her loss of powers she had Mystiokinesis, the power to control the Mist, and Healing, the power to heal small injuries. She can still tend to injuries better than most mortals can.
