Terrible partners in crime (Percy, Annabeth)

Nico sat on a rock over looking the shoreline of the lake. In his lap sat a stack of paper, and balancing on his lips was a pen. Several crumpled balls of paper lay around the rocks, a testament to his failure. He had been attempting all morning to write a poem for a certain son of Apollo, but couldn't seem to put words together the right way. The pen lost it's center and tumbled to the ground.

Nico put his head in his hands and mussed his hair in frustration. He let out an anguished scream at his own incompetence, but quickly slapped his hands over his mouth. He hoped that no one heard that, but the sound of rapidly approaching footfalls said other wise. He quickly leaped to hide his failed attempt at poetry by stuffing them in his jacket.

Classic Annabeth and Percy move to be wandering in the forest holding hands and prepping to fight any stocked monsters. They hadn't run into anything yet, but they heard a scream coming from the direction of the lake. Annabeth whipped out her knife and quickly rushed forward, releasing Percy's hand in order to pick up speed. "Come on Seaweed brain!" she said. Finally, the broke through the trees and saw Nico sitting on a rock by the lake... looking perfectly fine, other then the fact that his face was all flushed. Annabeth sighed sheathing her knife. "Nico, hey, you okay?" she approached, her face showing both annoyance and worry.

Percy was used to running toward danger. He was also used to hearing screams. Those sorts of things happened often in the forest at camp half blood. He was not used to getting his adrenaline pumped up and then to have nothing happen. That was strange. Seeing Nico sitting on the beach totally safe, and relatively calm, it was a let down from his high. He followed Annabeth onto the beach, his sword still out. A frown was on his face, almost disappointed. No monsters.

"And if you are, why are you screaming?" percy asked looking out over the ocean, annoyed. Sure the walk with Annabeth had been nice, walking with her always was. but every once in a while he just wanted to use his sword.

Nico looked at his friend and ex-crush nervously. "I-I'm fine. Nothing to see here." Nico looked rapidly between the two looking for an escape route. "No reason... I mean I didn't scream. What scream? Or-wait I mean-" He tried to take a step back. The papers in his jacket made a lot of crunching sounds at the movement. A few even fell out, a gust of wind carrying a couple towards the other two demigods.

Nico panicked a little more. "Those are nothing, don't read them!" He shouted, face growing even more red. He was going to find the god of luck and wind and demand an explanation for why they all hated him. He might actually die from embarrassment right now. He rushed to pick the papers up but more fell from him.

Annabeth smacked Percy's arm at his comment and smiled softly at Nico, patiently awaiting his reply. When it came she nodded, but her eyes were burning with suspicion, "you did yell, though," she said firmly until suddenly the papers were flying towards them. Annabeth caught one and didn't look at it, of course not. "If you say so, right Percy," she glared at Percy in case he had any ideas about reading those papers. She raised an eyebrow at Nico, "but Nico, your face is all red," she was starting to figure it out though and she grin slowly. "Hey, it's no problem. Just let us know if you need us. I mean we're basically relationship experts," she raised an eyebrow.

Paper came flying toward Percy and he grabbed one, and naturally he started reading it. It looked like a poem, a... love poem? He glanced over at Annabeth when she told Nico they wouldn't read them. He crumpled the paper up in his fist and raised his eyebrows innocently.

"What? I didn't read any love poem." he said, his voice a little higher than normal. He decided he should just be quiet. But quiet wasn't something he was good at. "Besides, Annabeth is right. Relationship experts right here." he said, trying to cover up his slight mess up.
