GROUP Camp Half Blood AGE 15 GENDER Male GODLY PARENT Hades POWER Necromancy Created by ʏᴜɪᴄʜɪɪɴ™ of Adoxography 2.0 | Nico DiAngelo PERSONALITY Nico is short tempered and ruthless. He's very insecure about himself and how others think of him. He tends to be pretty pessimistic, never quite feeling like he belongs anywhere. He's rarely in a happy mood. Though it's not as obvious, Nico is still a very curious boy. He has a dark sense of humor. Nico also has an incredible will. (Puns! ) APPEARANCE Nico is Half Greek god half Italian, though his once olive skin has paled. He has brown eyes and messy black hair. He likes to wear dark clothes and probably wouldn't be caught dead in either camp's shirt. His old torn aviators jacket has been replaced with a black bombers jacket. His still looks a little haggard since the war, but has improved in health a little since. HISTORY Nico was born in Italy to Maria DiAngelo in the 1930s. At the beginning of WWII His family moved to America and stayed in a high end hotel until the big three decided having mortal children was dangerous. In an attempt on his sisters and his own live, Zeus struck the hotel with lightning and killed Maria. Hades managed to protect the siblings. He had their memories wiped and placed in the Lotus hotel for safe keeping shortly after. 70 years had passed in what felt like a month. The siblings were pulled from the Lotus hotel and put into military school for the camp to find. When they were found, Nico developed his crush on Percy Jackson. At camp his sister joined the Hunters of Artemis. She goes on a quest, but gave Nico a skull-shaped ring before she leaved. He asked Percy to keep an eye on her, he made him promise to protect her. They all left and he spoke to Hestia. Percy returned, but with news of his sisters death. Angry and upset Nico ran away. He took the Labyrinth out of camp and met the dead king Minos. Minos used the labyrinth to train Nico and gain his trust. Nico, through all this, tried to summon his sisters spirit. After many failures, he begged his father for a deal. His father agrees and Nico planned to trade an soul for a soul. While working on his plan, he was captured and saved by Percy. Percy asked him to try one more time to summon Bianca. It worked and she told him that obsession is the fatal flaw of the children of Hades. She also gave a warning and then disappeared. Percy and the others continued on their journey while he decided to stay behind. Minos convinced Nico that Percy would need saving soon after though. So he heads back into the labyrinth and is captured. He later banishes Minos for his betrayal. He tells Percy after that only the dead accept him, and only out of fear. When they ran into Kronos, Nico was forced to show his powers and reveal his godly parentage. At the battle in Camp Half-Blood Nico summoned the undead to fight with the demigods, though it nearly killed him. Even after helping save the camp, he still felt like an outsider to the camp and so he left. Nico lived with his father in the underworld, running errands. He tried to get his father to step in and help against the titans. His father constantly brought up how much of a disappointment Nico was compared to his sister. Not remembering anything about his mother, he set out to find any information he could about her, making a deal with his father to do so. He also developed a plan to beat Kronos; Percy would need to bathe in the river Styx. He convinced Percy to go with his plan, but when they got to the underworld he gave Percy to Hades. Nico, in exchange for capturing Percy, was to be given information about his mother. But Hades refused to talk about it, so Nico helped Percy escape and go through with the plan to bathe in Styx. Nico tried to summon his mother, but Bianca appeared and told him not to, instead showed his what happened. Nico used this against Hades to get him to help in the upcoming battle. With Nico's help the demigods were able to overpower Kronos' forces. He was invited to Olympus where he gained not only his fathers acceptance, but also Camp Half-Blood's. (Though the latter only lasted a few weeks before everyone started to avoid him again.) His father even gave him a birthday gift in the form of a zombie chauffeur. He left camp once more to work under his father. During this time he found out Thanos had been captured and tried to revive his sister, but she had already been reborn. He brought back his half sister Hazel instead to give her a chance to be a hero. Hades instructed him to bring her to Camp Jupiter and explained the whole Roman and Greek thing, forcing him to promise to keep both camps a secret from one another. At camp Jupiter, he introduces Hazel and himself as children of Pluto. He became the first greek demigod since the civil war to know about the roman demigods. He visited the camp often enough to soon become the ambassador of Pluto. After skirting around an amnesiac Percy, Nico is sucked into Tartarus. He suffered so much that the goddess of misery, Akhlys, let him go by her claiming she couldn't do much more to add to his anguish. Gaia's forces found him and, though he fought, capture him. He is placed in a giant jar and goes into a death like sleep. Gaia used him as bait for a trap. He gets rescued and warns the seven of the doors of death. After promising to Percy, who fell with Annabeth into Tartarus, he leads the remaining five demigod to the house of Hades. The group splits up and Jason and him go to find Diocletian's scepter. However, they ran into Cupid shortly after. Cupid forced Nico to admit he had a crush on Percy. Nico bushed off Jason's attempt to comfort him, but was glad he promised to keep it a secret. Later Jason tried again, and Nico blew up at him and claimed that as a son of Hades, he would always be judged and never accepted. He promised to leave both camps as soon as the war was over. Nico, along with Rayna and Coach Hedge, took the Athena Parthenos to Camp Half-blood in order to stop the demigods from fighting. Shadow traveling and banishing a living to person into a ghost took a lot out of him, and they were captured by the roman demigods. They were rescued by Tyson and Ella and he was sent to sabotage the romans. When monsters attacked, Nico helped fight them off, until Will Solice found him and told him Octavian was up to something. Nico let the roman demigod die, leading to Leo's 'death'. He still blames himself. Despite promising to leave, Nico has decided to stay with both camps, but continues working for his father. EXPLANATION OF POWER Umbrakinesis: Nico has control over darkness and shadows for various uses such as solidifying it for attacks and to hide in it.
(Also technically - Necromancy: as a son of Hades Nico has divine authority and control over the dead, as well as many monsters native to Hades' realm, such as the Furies.
Geokinesis: Nico can control the earth - levitating rocks and making them deadly, black, and extremely sharp. Nico can open fissures in the earth that can swallow up creatures and trap them in the Underworld. He can cause earth tremors so powerful, they can shatter the pillars of a mountain fortress. He can also control the black walls of the Underworld. His geokinetic abilities are only surpassed by his half-sister, Hazel Levesque and his father, Hades. Cryokinesis (limited): as seen in The Blood of Olympus, when Nico is infuriated, he generates an aura of intense cold, making the temperature around him drop to freezing, with the ground around him and the massive cairn turning white with frost. Hypnokinesis: as seen in The Blood of Olympus, Nico can navigate through "the dark dreamscape" of dreams better than most other demigods (and is only somewhat surpassed by demigod children of Hypnos, like Clovis), since he claims that dreams and death are "old friends of his." Hence, Nico has a higher degree on control over his dreams, the ability to astral project his consciousness, find and enter the dreams of other demigods. Reyna notes that Nico can have an extremely heavy sleep at times, to the point that he won't even budge if Coach Hedge does a goat-hoof tap dance around Nico's head. Later in the book, Nico puts several demigods to sleep by sending deep dreams their way. Induced Fear: Nico radiates intense fear and death like his father, Hades, but to a much lesser degree. In The Last Olympian, this aura was so strong that Kronos's monsters initially backed away from him. In The House of Hades, he is shown to radiate death from nervousness, as when Cupid intimidates him, "the grass turned brown and wilted" at his feet, as if "poison were seeping from the soles of his shoes." Even while he was still emaciated and weakened from Tartarus, even a demigod as brave as Jason Grace admitted to being afraid of Nico, possibly due to this fearsome aura in part.
