Finn was one hundred percent embarrassed right now due to his recent fight with some nasty monsters and some even nastier scars to show for it. His long lost sister rescued him and they had been helped by Amy, the only girl who had caught Finns eye as more than just another student. He had been bedridden for two days and she had nursed him back to health.
He had asked and found out where her cabin was and made his way over there now. He wanted to say thank you in person one more time before heading back to New Rome tonight. His left arm was still wrapped in bandages, but he pulled a sweater on to make it less noticeable. He swallowed nervously as he knocked on the cabin door, praying to the gods that she was the one who answered...

Amy had just stopped in the cabin long enough to grab her hiking boots instead of her tennis shoes when she heard someone knocking on the door. Her first instinct was to write it off as one of the campers she was taking out on the hike getting impatient, until she remembered that they weren't leaving for another hour and she had actually been early this time. Once the visitor's identity had her attention out of pure curiosity, Amy finished lacing her boot and opened the door.
There was no denying it. Despite all that hardness and his proper air, Finley Rockefellar was a handsome man, enough that it made Amy's heart stop for just a moment when she saw him standing in front of her. Hi ! She greeted, maybe a little timidly. After all, she hadn't known he was going to show up. It occurred to her that it was probably for a healing related matter, but she wouldn't know for sure unless she asked. Everything okay?

He nodded at her, maybe a little too seriously, when she said hi. Then she asked if everything was okay and he cleared his throat, rolled his shoulders back, and willed himself to stop being such a big baby about this. "Everythings fine, Amaryllis," seriously? He had to call her by her whole first name? "I just wanted to say thank you. And... I wanted to ask if you wanted to have dinner with me. You know, as a thank you. Next time you're in New Rome, maybe, or tonight, I mean I can wait to go home-" he stopped himself so he wouldn't go on too much.
He hadn't originally intended to ask her out to dinner, but it seemed like a good idea. And it was... wasn't it? That's what any of his friends would say. Well, any of the people who conferred with him in a personal matter... which wasn't many people.

Finley's invitation made Amy pause for a moment, considering the offer but also wondering where it had come from. Finley was...distant, at best to everyone that she had seen. How well could you know someone after a few days though? Besides, all of the Romans felt stand-off ish to her. It was just in their nature. Actually, I was heading to New Rome with this group anyways, so we can do something there if you want. Amy offered, trying to ignore the blush creeping up her cheeks. Or tonight, whichever is better. I'll be around either way if you are.

She was heading to New Rome with this group? He smiled, giving her a nod, trying to ignore the blush on his own cheeks. Blushing? Seriously? He had never that before. At least not this way. He smiled at her words. "How about this, we travel to New Rome with the group tonight and do breakfast tomorrow there? You'll want some rest after we get through the maze,it isn't the easiest thing as you know," he said, clearing his throat, embarassed at his talent for stating the obvious. Either way, it wasn't a bad idea to head back tonight with her... in fact, he almost felt obligated to stand by her through the maze in case this was one of those crazy times.

That sounds perfect! She exclaimed. Her excitement almost felt over the top, as if it was trying to compensate for her bout of nervousness. She didn't go on many dates, especially not here at the camp. Never had any of them been with a roman either. This was completely new territory. I guess I'll meet you there this evening? Assuming I don't find a way to be late....like I am now. The hike was still a while off, but she wasn't even ready yet, then there was the issue of actually getting to where they were meeting up. Nope. She was most definitely already behind the schedule she had to make for herself to keep from getting in over her head.

Finn couldn't help but grin at her exclamation that the plan sounded perfect. he was just glad that she was agreeing to do anything with him at all, especially since he had been such a fool with that monster. She mentioned meeting this evening and he nodded, "I'm sure you'll figure it out," he half teased. He gave her a short, business like nod, "see you tonight," and he started to walk away. He was a bit nervous about the whole thing and hoped that she wasn't silently freaking out as much as he was...

**** le requested time jump****
As she had feared, Amy was running horribly late. Luckily from her, a knowing look from the person who had asked her to come along on this particular trip let her know that she had taken those tardy tendencies in to account and told her to be there an hour early. Which meant that she was actually fifteen minutes early, with only the other girl to keep her company. They chatted for a few minutes about the comings and goings of the camp, how hard it could be in the labyrinth, and whether or not Amy was adequetly packed and prepared for the trip. Of course it was much better than last time. She hadn't ever been to New Rome before then and had of course left a billion things behind. Now she had a list and had checked it enough times that it had actually fallen apart.
The appointed time for their group to meet up closed in on them, and Amy could hear others approaching from somewhere out of her line of site. A few more words of playful banter passed before her current companion convinced her to hoist her backpack on and make sure that the dagger someone had forced on her was securely in place so that they could get going as soon as everyone arrived.

Finley was waiting for the group about a half hour early. He was never late to anything, and he was always prepared to help whoever else was in need of him. So, he stood there waiting as Amy and the other girl with her approached. There would be a few others as well, and Finley waited for them all in silence. As soon as he saw Amy his shoulders suddenly felt tense and he cleared his throat, straightened his pack, and looked down at his feet for a moment. Okay, this wasn't a big deal. He could go talk to her. They were planning on going through this together anyway, right? Granted, Finn did have to lead the group this go around, but that was okay. He could multi task. He crossed over to her and the other girl she was with and gave her a short nod in greeting. "Amy, nice to see you," he said slowly. Several of his roman companions looked over to see who Fin, the anti-social swordman, was talking with. It was a miracle that he was even socializing with anyone.

Amy smiled whenever she caught sight of Finley, but the curious looks didn't quite escape her notice. Why was everyone suddenly so interested in Finley saying hello? She'd have to ask him later, but right now her companion was nudging her as a reminder she had been spoken to. Hey! I wish we would've known you were up here or I would've come sooner. Someone, who shall remain nameless, resorted to under handed tricks to make sure I was here early instead of barely on time. She laughed, nudging the other girl back playfully. Considering their conversation earlier, she hoped Finley could appreciate the humor of the situation. So, are we all here or are we waiting a while? She questioned, readjusting her bag to a more comfortable position.

Amy answered back and he shook his head, a soft half smile tugging at his lips. "That's quite all right. Hi," he said, turning to Amy's companion with a smile, "My name is Fin," he said with a short nod. Then his attention was soon turned back to Amy, who asked if they were ready to go or if they had to wait. "We're just waiting on one more-" he paused, his gaze shifting to something behind her. "And there he is, so we're ready. Okay!" he turned to face the group, shifting to standing beside Amy, "I'll be leading the group today. Stay close together, find a buddy to stick with and keep your weapons in hand," he commanded, using all his Centurion leadership skills.
He turned back to Amy and gave her a soft smile, nodding to her friend, "you guys can stick with me, if you want," he offered before moving forward, into the maze.

Her friend shook her head at Amy knowingly, like she was in on something that even Amy wasn't completely aware of, and then walked away to pair up with someone from her cabin that had been left buddy-less. Well, actually, it looks like I'm with you after all. Amy observed, taking a quick look around to ensure that she was right. Everyone else was paired off and if Fin wasn't counting himself, they had an uneven number. This was like being the weird kid who had to walk with the teacher at field trips, only the teacher was her age and attractive and you normally didn't face the potential of death during a field trip.
Doing as Finley asked, Amy unsheathed the dagger at her side and grasped it firmly. If they were lucky, she wouldn't trip and stab herself on the way there. That would be more ironic than she cared to think. The healer needing healed. So do you always expect trouble in this thing or is it a better safe than sorry situation? She asked curiously, following him in to the labyrinth.

Amy's friend left them, which Finn was kind of glad about. It would be nice to have the opportunity to talk to Amy alone... well, as alone as they could while he was leading a group. "If that's all right with you, Amy, I'm happy to have you at my side," he said, almost sounding more businesslike than personal. She took out her dagger and she asked about the situation and the trouble of the trip. "I'm just always prepared. I've come through a lot of times and faced some sort of obstacle at least hmm... 40 percent of those times. Sometimes big, sometimes small," he kept his own sword in his hand on the opposite side of her, "but we can handle it. We have a good group and several of us know the way," he glanced down at her, "you're safe with me."
