Thud.. thud..Hefty footfalls pounded the earth as lengthy legs made massive strides towards the up and coming house. Daniel's eyes narrowed in resolve. The previous morning he had been approached by one of his more cheeky friends, Krem Rivers. Their relationship was a continuous issue of questionable challenges and moronic bets, always out to upstage the other. Krem had approached him with an odd proposition. He was to pursue Masin Delisle and have her wholeheartedly accept a romantic invitation to a forthcoming party. The boy had been with Daniel for years now, and he was all too aware of the frequent rebukes the rowdy Daniel Haven got from the camp's higher ups, one in particular being the lovely Masin. The young female didn't appear to care much for Daniel's habitual behavior, and he knew winning her over wouldn't be a cake walk. On the other hand, Daniel found her to be amusing to poke and prod, to the point he wondered if he could even pull through with a chivalrous act. He figured it would come off suspicious if his initial almost antagonist attitude towards her twisted into something more gentlemanly. Developing a formula the evening before, he decided on slowly wringing out the Haven charm. Reaching up with a paw-like hand, he scratched his rough chin, peering up at the Big House with mild interest. Taking to pacing back and forth at its entrance, he hopelessly prayed to Masin's father that she was actually inside the imposing building. The young son of Ares had merely assumed the wannabe President would linger around the headquarters of "official camp business." It just didn't fit his preconceived image of her to see the girl hanging out in, say, the arts building. He had flaked out on training with a select group of pals to get ahead on this mission he was given, and there was going to be serious hell to pay if his coming out was a sheer waste of time. " Should I have brought flowers?" he murmured under his breath gently, subconsciously voicing his inner dialogue. Would Masin even be the type of girl to swoon over that? If she was, it'd probably be more laugh inducing coming from Daniel then if coming from a different member of the male species. No, much too obvious anyways.. He chided mentally. It was going to be difficult to not rush things. At the moment, the teen viewed this solely as a bet with a friend, and he aimed to succeed. NOTES: Glad I was able to finally get this out to you! ^^ Not too proud of this post, but.. WORDS: 419 TAG(S): @masin

Masin often hung around the Big House, being ready for any official camp business that may come up. She also liked to remain informed as to who was coming in and out of the infirmary, and this was the best place to get that information. However, she had just finished writing up her cabins assignments for the week and was looking forward to posting them in the cabin. She didn't have many siblings, and most didn't even stick around that often, but she liked to give them something to do when they were there.
Awe, the Zeus cabin. Full of thunder, marble and was once a generally un-homey atmosphere. After much praying to her father, Masin had decided to do a bit of a remodel of the place, turning it into the atmosphere it was now. The thunder still roared, of course, and the statue was still there but beds were added behind sheer drapery and a more user friendly bathroom was installed. She was prouder than ever.
She burst out of the Big House front door, ready to make a bee-line for the Zeus cabin when she full on ran into someone pacing on the steps. "Gods!" she called out, a bit of a shrill sound escaping her lips with the word. Her papers had flown about and she groaned, bending down to pick them up. "Don't you have anything better to do than stand around doorways-" she stopped, catching sight of who she had run into.
Daniel. Haven. One of the most menacing people in the entire camp. Not an 'evil' sort of menace, no, just plain crazy and annoying as heck. He was as Ares kid, a charmer, and she always seemed to feel more anger around him. Probably because of that horrid father of his. She stood, straightening the papers that she had retrieved, "Daniel Haven. What business do you have lurking about the Big House?" no doubt he was up to some elaborate prank or planning to seduce some young new camper!

Just when he began to have second thoughts about loitering around the Big House, Daniel was met head on with force, knocking him backwards, practically sending him sprawling off of the house's steps. Clutching at his heart in mere surprise of the event, he sent his attacker a fuming glare, only to have his eyes fall on Masin DeLisle, the very girl he had been waiting for for what felt like a millennium. Observing her as she lowered to pick up her scattered papers, his eyes squinted to get a look at what their contents were, blatantly displaying his interest. The endeavor was futile as they were picked up almost as quickly as they had fell. Fixing his hair before she could peer up at him, he straightened himself out, making a point to look more appealing. A slight frown tugged at the corners of his lips, as he realized he had missed the golden opportunity to start out on a good foot. Cursing himself for being more intrigued in what the papers contained then aiding her in retrieving them, he was downcast at the chance to play out a cliché moment seen in countless romance movies. Girl drops her books, boy helps, hands touch, eyes meet, and voila, sparks fly. Imagining such a scene in his head between Masin and himself was, well, it was amusing. It just didn't seem to fit. He was used to being chewed out by the stiff daughter of Zeus for his shenanigans, not exchanging any sort of warmth or affection. " Masin DeLisle-" he began in a mocking manner, before abruptly putting an end to what he had begun carelessly spouting out of his running mouth by biting down hard on his quick tongue. Not the best way to get into a woman's heart.. You'll never win her over if you go on like this.. He scolded himself. An odd feeling arose in his chest as he looked away from a brief moment. This was the first time he was making even the slightest attempt at being civilized with her. Instead, he took to feigning a look of pure hurt at her choice of words, dramatically gasping, " What? I can't visit an old friend?" He failed to find leverage in hiding the fact he came with the intention of seeking her out, similar candid comments having won over a few girls before. Masin, however, was not like "most" girls, and he knew it would likely have no effect on her. She stood firmly by herself whereas Daniel had encountered multiple people who were wrapped around his finger within moments and would wholeheartedly swoon or agree with anything and everything that flew out of his big mouth. She was an individual. It made him look forward to the chase. " It's been awhile," he purred, supplying her with a coy wink as he added in a warm, teasing tone, " I've started to miss you barking at me," There was such a thing as coming on too strong, or, especially in their case, too suspicious. One could only hope he wasn't in either category. NOTES: I love this already! WORDS: 517 TAG: @masin

He always said her name like that. Like he was making fun of the high class last name and the attitude that came with it. He suddenly stopped, however, and Masin raised an eyebrow at him. Was this another one of his tricks? Playing nice? She waited her arms folded over her chest with the papers in between. She waited for whatever snarky remark was going to come next.
At his oh-so-dramatic gasp, Masin rolled her eyes. She didn't feel as though he was acting incredibly suspicious just yet. No, she was sure this little attitude was part of a game. She sighed, "I guess my not having barked at you lately can mean one of two things," she took a step toward him, "either you've been behaving yourself, or I haven't been watching as closely as I should." She narrowed her eyes at him, holding the gaze for a moment before relaxing her face, as if he wasn't worth the watching.
"Now, I don't believe you came here to see me. But I'll bite. What do you want?" a guy like Daniel always wanted something. A laugh, a lover, a few drachma. Masin knew his type. Never doing anything without a hidden agenda, even if that hidden agenda was just to be annoying.
