KLAUS J. RAINER
OCTOBER 10
FOURTEEN
CAMP HALF BLOOD
CAMPER
HADES
CLAIMED
Klaus has the ability to tell when and how someone is going to die. This occurs either with direct skin to skin contact or whenever someone is within minutes of dying. The longer contact occurs, the more he can tell about the manner of death. Time generally comes to him in the form of a date as long as the person has longer than a day to live.
Note the first: This only applies to the death that occurs at the end of the path the person is currently on. It can change at any point over pretty much anything, so don't freak out if he says your character is going to die in 3 days, because it probably isn't going to happen. He isn't the oracle, you know.
Note the second:
If your character willingly or accidentally initiates contact with Klaus, I take full liberty of coming up with some crazy way your character is going to pass away. I have watched almost ever episode of 1000 Ways to Die and I'm not afraid to use it. Just remember that by no means are they actually going to die that way unless you want them to, because that would be rude.

DEATH SENSE
Klaus can be laid back and funny when he wants to be, but most of the time right now he's kinda mellow. Sometimes he can be borderline withdrawn because of everything he currently is dealing with at home.
Eventually he will probably start to return to his happier state, but until then he'll be distant and sometimes even rude. He's also a little more cautious of his power and now more than ever wants to keep people at arms length.
When he is feeling more like himself, Klaus enjoys spending time in the arts building. He's a crafty sort of kid. Volleyball and swimming used to be two of his favorite things, but both of them generally require him to not be fully covered so he struggles to keep up with them. Hopefully Klaus will start enjoying these activities again soon.

PERSONALITY
Klaus is fairly small for his age, shorter and scrawnier than the rest of his fellow campers. His dad says he's just a late bloomer, but Klaus wishes that he didn't feel so awkward sometimes.
As for his attire, it's mostly straightforward camping gear. However, because of his power and how much it freaks him out sometimes, Klaus tends to wear long sleeve versions of the camp shirt and jeans instead of shorts to minimize the chance of contact. It doesn't matter how hot it gets, he'll still wear it.

GENERAL APPEARANCE
ZACHARY GORDON
What Klaus knows:
He was loved, all of his life, by the parents that raised him. Cassidy and Liam Rainer spoiled Klaus from the moment he came home. He went to the best schools, wore the best clothes, and frankly lived a privileged life.
Everything changed whenever he turned 12 and was attacked by a monster outside the family's home in Michigan. Shortly afterwards, a satyr arrived to take him to Camp Half Blood for the first time, where he would spend his summers for the foreseeable future.
Before he left, Cassidy and Liam were forced to acknowledge that Klaus was not their son biologically. It hurt him badly to know that not only did his birth mother not want him, but that his family had never thought to tell him until then.
Hades claimed his son shortly after he arrived at Camp, and almost immediately afterwards he began to experience his powers for the first time. Normally he managed to get away with not touching people to keep them under control, but occasionally he couldn't help but correctly predict the demise of his fellow campers.
The power quirk of being able to tell when someone is very close to death was tragically discovered at home the year he turned fourteen. Cassidy went to Klaus' room to tell him she was running some errands and he couldn't help but notice the fast ticking clock above her head. Before he could register what was going on, Cassidy had left the home and never returned.
Afterwards, Liam became slightly withdrawn and irritable, blaming Klaus for not stopping her or at least trying to tell her something was wrong. This lead him to contacting the adoption agency to find information about Klaus' birth mother. He no longer wanted the boy and was willing to turn over full custody, no questions asked. The last thing he said to his son of fourteen years before sending him off to the "camp for freaks" for the summer was that if his mother didn't want him, he didn't need to come home at all. At least he can stay at Half Blood full time, right?
What Klaus doesn't know:
He's a twin and his sister is also at Camp. His mother didn't abandon him, she couldn't afford to feed both children and had to make a tough choice. And most importantly, his mother is dead.
