Everett was fairly certain there wouldn’t be any violence, and he loosened up, not really aware that he’d been tense before now. But even if his body language was more relaxed he still kept his eyes fixed on Danielle, not quite able to get rid of the weird feeling he’d gotten when Cass reacted to seeing her.
“Nice to meet you.” he none the less nodded at Dani when Cassandra introduced her. If he tended to go for a handshake a lot of the time, that wasn’t something that anyone beside him knew.
“Helping out is a better way to put it, yeah. You did all the hard work.” he told Cass, momentarily turning to look at her and giving her a small smile. The attentive eye could probably pick up on a hint of stress and sadness in his eyes, courtesy of the memories the situation had brought back to the surface. He could still almost feel them there, waiting to strike if and when his control lapsed, but for now they were just lurking in the shadows and not in the way.
“So, is Camp Half-Blood always this eventful?” he asked, trying to make a joke.
