Piper is a fairly skilled charmspeaker as she is able to convince others to follow her commands. The strength of her charmspeak depends on the inflection and tone of her voice, and at times, she can unintentionally charmspeak someone, especially if she is under emotional distress. However, Piper has gotten much better at controlling her skill. The effects of her charmspeak generally wear off after a few hours at most and leave the victim dazed, with no recollection of what they were ordered to do. Generally, those with stronger intuitions or are aware that Piper is trying to charmspeak them are much more resistant than the oblivious or weak-willed. Piper's charmspeak is also much more potent if she is trying to make her target do what they want to do, not what she wants them to do.
CHARMSPEAK
Piper is a very intuitive person. When making decisions, Piper tends to go with her gut, which is right more often than not. This tendency, combined with her ADHD, can make her a bit impulsive, leading her to trouble. Her rebellious streak and penchant for mischief do not help things either. Piper's intuitiveness means that she is in close touch with her own emotions and is perceptive of others'. This trait makes her much more socially aware and able to communicate with others easily. Piper is fairly extroverted and enjoys getting to know others and their stories. Thanks to her charmspeak, she is also quite skilled at playing the mediator and resolving disputes.
Although she is the daughter of a famous movie star, Piper has no particular love for the spotlight. Piper is down-to-earth and has no patience for elitist or pretentious attitudes. She prefers to be around her friends, whom she cares for deeply and remains steadfastly loyal towards. Despite being more aggressive than the average Aphrodite child, Piper is kind and chooses to embrace the more positive aspects of her mother's realm, rejecting such things as vanity and the Aphrodite cabin rite of passage.
However, Piper's kindness does not mean she is a pushover. She is more than capable of standing up for herself and others in the face of a perceived injustice. Piper is also able to defend herself and finds sword training much more interesting than fashion. In fact, she dislikes most stereotypical girly things and instead prefers more active hobbies.
Despite major improvement in her self-confidence during her time on the Argo II, Piper still suffers occasionally from insecurity. She has a tendency to compare herself to others and sometimes sees herself as useless, believing instead that her friends-- especially those part of the Prophecy of the Seven-- are true heroes while she is merely an imposter. It is the fear that she is useless that drives her to take her training seriously and attempt to prove herself.
Ultimately, Piper is the product of a rich heritage. She believes in love. She believes in stories. And she believes in her future.
"Piper was patient, and she could see lots of good possibilities." -The Lost Hero, Rick Riordan

PERSONALITY
At first glance, Piper is quite unremarkable. She is not statuesque or blonde or supermodel-skinny or pale with perfect, porcelain skin. It takes a third, maybe even fourth, glance to notice her beauty, courtesy of her mother. Perhaps most noticeable of her features are her eyes, which appear to change color constantly. Her hair is the only indication that she puts any effort into her appearance. She usually braids sections of it, tying the strands off with an eagle feather as a symbol of her heritage.
Piper's style consists of anything that is comfortable-- usually tank tops and shorts. Piper has a deep aversion to dresses, skirts, and anything with ruffles as she finds them too impractical. Likewise, she usually avoids makeup, finding that it takes up too much time, and generally avoids anything that is stereotypically girly.

GENERAL APPEARANCE
KELSEY CHOW
For as long as he could remember, Tristan McLean had faced a bland future. He had generally accepted that he would remain in middle-of-nowhere, Oklahoma, where he had grown up, working odd jobs to support himself. While it wasn't the most exciting life, it was one he had accepted. At the very least, he was near his father, Thomas McLean, whom he was very close to.
Like any good cliched Hollywood romance, everything changed when he met a girl. Unbeknownst to him, the "girl" was actually the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Their relationship culminated in a baby girl, who they named Piper at the suggestion of Thomas. Soon after, Aphrodite disappeared, offering no explanation as she had sensed that Tristan would not be able to handle the truth.
Tristan fell into a slight depression, but he recognized that he was now responsible for a child, no, a newborn infant who could die way too easily. Renewed with a sense of purpose, Tristan did his best to support their tiny family. Enlisting the help of Thomas, Tristan raised Piper on a steady diet of old Cherokee folktales. Although she lacked many material luxuries, Piper was too young to notice and had a very happy early childhood.
Several years later, Thomas fell ill with lung cancer, and Tristan was unable to afford the treatments necessary for his father. Thomas eventually died of the disease, jolting Tristan into action. He couldn't raise a young child in his current living conditions. What would happen if she got sick and required extensive medical care? What would happen if he got sick? Tristan started looking into other jobs and started landing bit parts as an actor. Eventually, he managed to snag the lead role of King of Sparta, which launched him to stardom.
During these early years, Piper helped Tristan research and prepare for his roles. Although her dyslexia made it difficult to read, she enjoyed the process, reveling in the different stories Tristan participated in. In particular, Piper loved the Greek myths they read together, often memorizing the tales so that she could recount them to her friends later.
With Tristan's new-found money, they moved to California. There, Tristan got even more offers, and it soon became impossible for him to leave their house without getting swarmed by paparazzi. While these new offers meant even more money and fame, they also meant less and less time spent with Piper. At first Piper tried to take it in stride, spending her time surfing and exploring the city. However, it soon became apparent that Tristan would not stop anytime soon. They had more than enough money. Fame was unnecessary, as far as Piper was concerned. What more did her father want?
It soon reached the point where she could go days without seeing Tristan. Instead, she had to endure Jane, his uptight assistant who seemed to have a permanent sneer whenever Piper was around. In an attempt to get her father's attention, Piper started to act out. She skipped school constantly, and her grades, which hadn't been great in the first place, fell until she was failing. She stayed out until early morning and burned cigarettes in her room. Only this last action elicited any response. Tristan was furious as he had lost his father to lung cancer, and he wasn't about to lose his daughter to the disease too. Immediately wrought with guilt, Piper threw away the cigarettes but continued to rebel. However, more often than not, Jane was the one lectured Piper after every defiant act.
Piper came upon shoplifting by accident. At a self-checkout, she missed an item, and when the alarms sounded, she easily convinced the manager that the alarm was faulty and walked out without even having her bags checked. Only after glancing at the receipt did Piper realize not only her mistake, but also her talent of persuasion. It became a game. How much could she steal and get away with? More often than not, Piper was caught, but she managed to sweet talk her way out of it initially. Afterwards, the store owner would report her, causing angry lectures from Tristan. Piper thrilled at these lectures as it meant he was paying attention to her. Things continued to escalate until one day she managed to convince a car salesman to let her drive off with a BMW. Unfortunately, she could not also persuade the salesman to drop charges. It was Jane who did that, making a deal for Piper to be sent to Wilderness School instead of jail.
There, Piper was miserable. Not only was she stuck in a glorified juvenile detention center and now the target of Isabel's bullying, but she was also hundreds of miles away from her father. Things got better when she befriended Leo Valdez, and the two got into much mischief, spending many detentions together. She eventually grew to trust him enough with the true identity of her father, which she had kept hidden as she didn't want to be known as the daughter of a multi-millionaire A-list actor. Although she would deny it, her rejection of Tristan's identity was her final rebellion as she still harbored some resentment for the fact that he had chosen his career over her.
Near the end of her stay at Wilderness School, Piper fell for, and later dated, Jason Grace-- or so she thought. During a field trip to the Grand Canyon, she, Jason, and Leo were whisked off to Camp Half-Blood after an encounter with a ventus. There, she was claimed by Aphrodite, much to her disappointment, and sent off on a quest. Over the next few days, Piper learned that Tristan had gone missing and that all of her memories of Jason had been lies. As she struggled to adjust to this strange, new world, she started a genuine relationship with Jason and rebuilt the crumbling one she had with Tristan.
After her first quest, Piper took over leadership of the Aphrodite cabin and set to work helping Leo build the Argo II. Although she had only spent a few short weeks at Camp Half-Blood, she soon fell in love with it and was determined to protect it. With Jason, Leo, and Annabeth, she traveled back to California, where a disastrous accident sent the group, along with three others from the Roman camp, spinning into another quest. It quickly became apparent that her friends were much more qualified than she was at the whole being-a-demigod thing. Even Leo was a better fighter than her as he could produce fire. All she had was her voice.
Gradually, Piper proved herself just as worthy as the others. She was never jealous, however, as she grew to be close friends with the other six demigods. After the war, she set about rebuilding Camp with a fervor, trying to take her mind off of losing Leo. When he did come back, she nearly killed him again, angry that he had deceived them all into thinking he was dead but also immensely relieved. Nowadays, she spends most of her time at Camp Half-Blood.
